Some more information on Malta 🇲🇹...

The old and the new worlds intertwine magically at the newly renovated Baroque Pinto Wharf, built by Manuel Pinto da Fonseca in the 18th century and now a fashionable area to dine and shop for tourists and locals alike. The complex originally consisted of nineteen stone warehouses intended to provide an easy commercial thoroughfare from the docks to the capital city. Its decline was reversed in 2005 with the buildings’ respectful reinvention into a centre of leisure, dining and shopping. The Waterfront’s dedicated cruise terminal also provides an attractive welcome to the island for the passengers of the many cruise ships that berth here.

On the waterfront you can enjoy local or international cuisine, a cocktail or coffee, or shop around for local craft. Being popular with Maltese people, Valletta Waterfront provides a good opportunity to mix with local inhabitants.

Don’t miss

  • A promenade by the colourful and faithfully renovated façades of the old Pinto warehouses.
  • Evening dining on the Marina, especially at the open-air tables.
  • The formidable view of giant cruise liners berthed at the Waterfront.

We have to leave home at 5.45 am yuck!!!!  Hopefully will have internet at the apartment we are staying in .....so check us out as we experience this kind of weather!!

Yashi Kochi!!!

Read that Malta has a second language, English, because at one time it was a British colony. Makes touring in Malta a little easier as you don't have to walk around with an Italian translation book or be a mime.

Malta was in the wrong place at the wrong time when the day after Mussolini declared war on Great Britain during World War II, he bombed Malta, and Malta only had three British planes. Malta has a war museum; wonder if it has good coverage of WWII. By the way, have you ever toured Winston Churchill's underground headquarters in London used during the Blitz? I watch the old movies about him and his leadership during that time. My Mother picked up the term "victory" garden from England when my family would plant a vegetable garden in the spring.
