It was an interesting trip where I learned a lot about the culture and the history of this part of SA..they all speak Africans which has a mix of German and Dutch but they all also speak English and there is still underneath a little resentment for the English for their invasions in the 100 years...the morning was cool and a bit of rain but it did clear up and the sun came out.
The town is small but the church very lovely with the roses in front
The church hall was packed and after the minister gave his blessings
That is a huge and completely edible ginger bread house on the stage.....the stalls opened for business...
I managed to buy a chicken pie and some fruit but i have never seen stuff sell so quickly before and in minutes the shelves looked like this...
These ladies had a production line of pancakes on the go...
We then went into another building where was breakfast was provided,.....it was a lovely morning.
On the way home we stopped at an African art and craft store...
Ostrich eggs......on the way home we went over the pass I had traveled on Friday in the rain this time it was clear and great views...
WE took a little detour on the way home
and Lodewyk being the true gentlemen tested the waters and deemed it safe to drive through!!!
I had a great morning and felt humbled to be included in this special adventure thanks....
After a spot of tea I went out on a hike from the house..the sun was shining and it was a great two hours...
I do not know why but i just like this next shot!!
some lovely flowers on the path
and then the hike uphill to the water fall...
again because of the lighting and the narrow canyon it was hard to get a good shot
I did spend a few minutes here before coming back down the trail and I really enjoyed the hike....
just happened to watch one live soccer game from England and then pleasantly surprised when i was invited to join my hosts and their Nephew for a Braai (BBQ) dinner....it was delicious and always amazes me the kindness that is daily constantly shown to me....
A long hot bath some reading and now it is 10 pm and a fun filled long day...just where did April go to????
I leave tomorrow for a drive a little south of about 100 km but with a little excitment expected...stay tuned!!
Yashi Kochi!!!
