Sunday 13 th December 2020.....healing every day!!

Obviously I have a lot of time on my hands so another long post for you..

My recovery is going so well and I feel stronger each day and I have more range of motion in my knee each morning.....today is the last day of taking my medication and I stopped icing my knee yesterday.

There was a lady advertising on the Civil List for an ice machine and I contacted her and she came over today..she is having shoulder surgery  in the morning with Dr.Rangel, I loaned her my machine and she was very grateful I hope she has the same speedy recovery as I am experiencing.

Jim called me again and offered to bring supper over for me  and at 6 pm he showed up with a wonderful chicken dinner....I am so lucky...it was delicious ..thanks Jim!

Ok let me try and entertain you...

In early January in 2011 when I was staying in the motor home in the RV park where the tennis courts are located in SMA I was going to CASA Hogar to have a little visit with Paola and I had a shower and I as I was getting dressed I decided to get a Q tip and gently cleaned my ears.

Unfortunately as I was cleaning my left ear the tip of the Q tip broke off in my ear.....I tried to get it out but could not.......I had a  little pair of nose hair scissors and I took them and asked the couple who were playing on one of the tennis courts if they could help me and just gently pull out the piece of cotton.

They were horrified and in no uncertain terms told me no and that I should go to the emergency department.

So I got on my scooter and drove myself to the hospital just a few blocks away....

I signed in within a few minutes and was shown into a little operating room and a few seconds later a young man in a white coat with a stethoscope around his  neck came in  and introduced himself as the doctor on call.

Honestly he looked about 19 years of age.....I explained the problem to him and he washed his hands put on some gloves took a little pair of what looked like tweezers and removed the offending piece of the Q tip.

He told me never to put anything in my ear, smiled and left the room.

I went to reception and paid my bill  of 360 pesos and I was back home and it all took about 15 minutes!!

A few months later I was returning to Canada and this below is my post from one of my days..

The injury I talk about occurred when I fell off my mountain bike in the Arizona foothills of Sedona a few days earlier...notice a pattern..me falling off bikes!!

Sunday 17th April 2011…the worst day of my journey….. I am very stupid and very much poorer!!!!

Had a great sleep and woke up intending to have a nice leisurely breakfast of the famous Pearson scrambled eggs…but first wanted to tend to my injuries forgot to mention last post that apart from the the knee, leg and finger I have had a large blister on top of my big toe but underneath my second toe that is having a hard time healing so this morning I decided to put some oil on it and I went to my medical cabinet and got out a Q tip to dip in the oil but thought before I did that I may as well clean my ears!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES I DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!  The Q tip broke off in the same ear as before in Mexico…..I was so mad at myself..all my plans were put on hold and I tried to find a clinic ….nothing opened on a Sunday so I drove to the next big town Sparks, Nevada and found this place.

Went to the emergency department and the story begins…

First of all I have to go to Admissions…loads of questions they take photo copy of my identification and I get a wrist band and told to wait in the waiting room….I was the only one in there….waited about 15 minutes and the nurse came and took me into an office where she asked lots of questions, took pulse and blood pressure and then she escorted me to this room

where I waited another 15 minutes until my Doctor came in and 12 seconds later finished!!

Back to the admissions department where I am told that the cost would be 1000 dollars!!!!!!  I almost fell off my chair!!!!  I informed them I had insurance but with a 300 dollar deductible so I paid 300 dollars and when the bill comes to me I can contact my Insurance company…..this to me is unbelievable the same procedure in Mexico was 45 dollars needless to say I have ditched the Q tips!!!!

The only way I can deal with this is to know that I have paid the money and then just forget about it!!!!!  No wonder my Doctor above is smiling!!!!!!  Suddenly my finger, knee ,  leg and toe didn’t feel so bad!

The point of the story is to entertain and not to make comparisons but I have to smile......almost nine years ago 1000 dollars for a twenty second procedure to remove the end of a Q tip......five days ago....surgery and a 24 hour stay in hospital for a total cost of 3700 dollars.

😳😳.  Hope you like this!!

Florida Woman Stops Alligator Attack Using a Small .22 caliber Ruger Pistol. Another good reason to have a concealed weapons permit. This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave, cool-headed woman with a small pistol against a fierce predator.

Here's her story in her own words: "While walking along the edge of a pond just outside my house in the Villages discussing a property settlement with my soon-to-be ex -husband, and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water. It began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive.

"If I had not had my little Ruger .22 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today! Just one shot to my estranged husband's knee cap was all it took. The gator got him easily, and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. The amount I saved in lawyer's fees was really incredible and his life insurance was also a big bonus!

Stay safe and healthy!!
