Sorry everything is mixed up here today but I just wanted to get all the photos of the scenic drive together.
It is now 9pm and I couldn't find a place to stay, no RV parks and the law is very strict about parking overnight on the scenic pull outs and rest areas. I want to visit the Hearst Castle tomorrow, so I am in a little town called Cambria about 5 miles from the castle and I pulled into a small motel entrance, they were not busy and negotiated a rate of 15 dollars for me to park in the back parking lot and the pass word for the Internet connection. So here I am using all Ramona's facilities tonight. I am warm, showered and fed but I did make one mistake and it is still a learning curve for me. I knew I was low on gas and had intended to get some but saw no stations that were open so when I turned on the generator so I could use the micro wave, it started but then stopped after about two minutes and I knew right away what was wrong. I remembered from the instruction manual that when the generator, which runs off the gas in the tank, is low it cuts out and will not work. This is a safety feature so you don't go out some where in the boonies use up all the gas for the generator and then have no gas to start the vehicle. So instead of a micro wave meal it was good old can of soup night. A good lesson to learn. Please enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.....

All the photos in the posts below upto the morning drive were taken on the scenic 17 mile loop around Carmel. This is reputed to be one of the most scenic drives in the USA, you be the judge!
It is for sure one of the most beautiful stretches of highway I have been on, it has it all, magnificent vista's, incredulous ocean movements, beautiful trees, houses to stretch the budget and golf courses for the rich and famous.

The afternoon was spent on a tour that friends took a few weeks ago called Mr.Toad Tours, so I took their advice and after the morning tour and lunch on Fisherman's Wharf I boarded the 1912 car for my personal two and half hour tour with Charles the owner. This reminded me of those tours I took in Costa Rica when I was the only person on the tour. This was just incredible to be driven around town in this great vehicle and Charles was very informative. I saw many sights the fortune cookie factory was cool, the close up of the bridge, the Victorian houses, so much I learned about the city and it's history. I even learned just how the cable cars work and of course it is by a cable that is laid about 4 inches below the pavement and it runs at 9 m.p.h. and the cars hook onto this cable and are pulled up and down the streets and we passed the main system house where this starts. Just a wonderful tour and I know feel that I know quite a bit about a city, the history and lifestyle.
I made it back from downtown by train and bus and arrived back to Ramona at about 6.30pm, a long day but one I shall not forget, hope you enjoy the photos.....tomorrow I hope to be in Carme-by-the-sea and I have a lunch date with Clint Eastwood ( he lives here)...
