This may be the most boring post so I shall not blame you if you skip by it........
My Mum, bless her heart, was without a shadow of a doubt the kindest and most lovely person I have ever met
and every Sunday without fail she would cook a most scrumptious Sunday lunch consisting of Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, roast and mashed potatoes, peas carrots and cauliflower and gravy following by steamed jam pudding and hot custard.......every Sunday without fail.....and most of you know I loved my Mum dearly but I must say she had no idea how to make fluffy tasty Yorkshire puddings......
Each Sunday was a different excuse and it became a standing event in our house that as my Dad and Malc and I sat down to eat we would take turns in joshing with Mum over the outcome of her puddings!
I have not had a Yorkshire pudding since I was last in England four years ago where my adorable sister in law Janet has taken over the role of cooking Sunday dinners......and I am thrilled to write that Janet
DOES know how to make a decent pudding!!!
So why am I dribbling on here???
BECAUSE......
Jessica the lovely young Mexican gal
who lives in one of the small villages where we deliver the food hampers happens to be a chef and caterer.
She has taken upon herself to have the 13 children that live in the village come to her CASA every morning after school and she feeds them a great healthy breakfast.
A couple of weeks ago Jessica and I were talking and I have no idea
how the subject of Yorkshire puddings came up but it did.......I told her that I actually come from the county of Yorkshire in England and that my Mum used to make the puddings every Sunday.....Jessica said she would make me some!!!
Today was the day!!!!!
I drove over to the village this morning delivered some donated clothing and health items for the kids and Jessica handed me twenty small cooked Yorkshire Puddings.
On my return home with the precious cargo I was vigilante of would be car jackers and happy to report the puddings are now in my freezer with exception of two which are in my belly!!!!!!
I warmed them up made some gravy and just indulged myself.....
So now you all know about Yorkshire puddings...do I hear some of you saying I need to get a life????
Stay safe and healthy!
Yashi Koshi!!!
