Wednesday 28 th October 2020..hodge podge !!!

Today I spent a bit of the morning going to friend’s homes and picking up cash donations for the Three Kings Toy drive!!!

The Go fund me account is doing really well so I feel confident we will raise the funds to get all the gifts for the kids this year.

I got a call from my go to guy to meet him at the registration office to get the new licence plate for the scooter and sure enough 10 minutes later  the whole process was complete and I had the new plate....I could not have done this without  the help from Fernando!!

Then took the dogs in the car to pick up another donation...look really hard and you will see Negrita in the back seat...

.....we then went to our favourite hike...

Something in those hills??

Yes....

A nice shot of new flags being put up down town..

The kids waiting for their dinner...

The knee is doing well, no pain.

My long time friend Sara called me yesterday and talked to me about my upcoming surgery, not only is she a nurse but she also underwent knee surgery last year.

The most important thing to a speedy recovery for her was the use of this machine..

She urged me to get one and I was also told the same thing by another friend here in town.

So I advertised on the local Civil list and was thrilled to get a reply from a lady who bought one two years ago for 275 dollars and used it after her knee surgery and she has offered it to me for 100 dollars...SOLD!!!

I shall be very happy to take possession next week.

Stay safe and healthy!!

Tuesday 27th October 2020....a special birthday!!,

Today is my Dad’s birthday he would have been 101 today......this is one of the last photos of him with his great Grand son Tom!!  Miss you Dad!!!

After yesterday’s post Linda sent me this photo of her and Guy taken a few years ago......great shot!!!

This morning I went up to what is normally the huge Tuesday market...this is where local and vendors from outside town come to sell and it is usually packed but because of Covid so few stalls...

Strict protocol to enter..

I found Fabiola at her stall..

This is the lady who for the last four years has sold us the gifts for the girls, a small purse filled with  such good things.....

It was good to see her, I ordered 300 purses and gave her a deposit and will pick them up just before Christmas ...

I then met up with an American woman that has sort of taken on a small community out in the campo and I promised her that the Three Kings would come to her village this year..

I went out to meet some of the kids...

Note no shoes and a little puppy...

there are about 55 kids in the village and it work out well for delivery....

So this is the kind of village and kids your donations to the Go fund me account will go...Thank you!!!

Came home and took the dogs for a walk this time I took them to the ball field but I think they prefer the other walk!

At 6 pm Marta come over for her English lesson..she really is very good and we basically sit and talk and I challenge her with questions.

Then I went to my friends, Karen and Gregg’s CASA for dinner...they have been friends for years and their casita is one place I have lived....they ordered country fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes from a local restaurant, yes typical Mexican food!!!

It was great and nice to sit and talk and catch up on all our summer activities!!

Heather sent me this photo of Boomer..I left some money for him to get a haircut and he sure looks cute!!

Monday 26th October 2020......my biggest complaint!!!!!

For the first time in a long time no morning cuppa tea...

I was off to the lab for some blood work this morning and it went really well.

The State of GTO decided that all vehicles  including scooters need to get new State licence plates....I know the process is a tad complicated especially with my poor Spanish skills so I have hired a young man to facilitate this for me and I met Fernando later on this morning......

He was simply brilliant and set up all the documentation that I need and now I have to wait for an appointment date to go to their office to get the plates, Fernando will come with me on that date also.

My next stop was to buy some flowers and go to the cemetery and place them next to my great friends final place of resting.

You have often heard me talk about my long time friends Linda and Guy, we met about twenty years ago and are like family......Guy suffered the last few years of his life but never complained and was such an honourable man.

They are the reason I am in SMA as I came to visit them here years ago and like lots of people fell in love with the town!!

This week is  the start of the Day of the Dead festivities , which is huge with parades, celebrations at the grave sites and really a magical time in the town.

Due to Covid the cemeteries will be closing from tomorrow..so I was glad to do this today.

I also received an email from Linda and this paragraph was in it..

Anyhow, what I want to let you know is that Muri asked Teri how long it takes to drive to SMA and begged her to drive them so she could take care of you for a few days, cook some meals & let you know how much she loves you !!! That put a smile on your face ??? I thought so !!! ❤️💕💗

Muri is one of Linda’s Grandchildren and I have know her since she was born and she is an amazing young lady...how sweet of her and yes it touched my heart❤️♥️💜

Later in this afternoon took the kids out to our favourite walk by my casita....just check out that sky!!!

They are very well behaved and love this walk..I go slow and have no pain and enjoy being out there too!!

The usual evening for me.....

Stay safe and healthy!!

So what my biggest complaint!!!!

Wait for it!!!

With the time change I missed Jeopardy!!!!!😖😖😖😖

Sunday 25 th October 2020.......mini road trip!!!

Today I did what Grandma and Grandad Pearson used

to do most Sunday’s after coming from church......

Go for a drive in the country...

So had the dogs ready and in the car and off we went here..

If there's time, consider making the trip out to Pozos, founded in the 16th century and now a semi-ghost town about an hour away from San Miguel. During the heyday of Mexican silver, Pozos was the place where miners would bring their ore to be melted down for shipping back to Europe. There are about 500 mines in the immediate area, many still open to the elements (and tourists). It was one of the first places in Mexico to have electricity as well as a training hospital. Those days are gone, however. The ovens are silent and the 18th century mansions and haciendas around town are in ruins, making for great photo shoots. Artists from San Miguel tried to establish a beachhead here years ago, setting up galleries and workshops. Some galleries remain and there are new boutique hotels, but the town survives off the music festivals that come here throughout the year.

It was a beautiful sunny day and we wondered around some ruins, they loved being off leash...

Then trying to navigate the small streets....

We then went to small cooperative  lavender farm....

It was a good afternoon and the dogs were really good..

passed this butcher shop back in SMA..I wonder why the dogs are sleeping there???

Nice to see the police on patrol!!

My knee feels good, the brace sure helps...

Time for my tea as I have to fast as I am having some tests in the morning...

Stay safe and healthy!!

happy birthday to my nephew Mark, hope you have a wonderful celebration!!

I had a good sleep and I am having no pain at all with my knee, my tennis buddy Gregg gave me a wonderful knee brace and I find it helps me a lot!!

I went to the tennis courts this morning I needed to hand over some tennis balls....my buddies hard at work.....

as I sat on the side lines

and watched a couple of game I thought about how lucky, fortunate and blessed to have been virtually injury free all my life.....I was not sad that I shall not be on a court again this year I am just determined to get back to great health as soon as I can, I intend to be the the best patient ever!!

I did a little pruning on Gracie’s roof top...before...

And after photos...

Of course the dogs are always with me.

I did learn of the passing of Teague last night..

he was one of the great dogs I house sat in Los Angeles in February he was a smashing dog!!

This afternoon I took the kids out on the great trail close to my casita..

A beautiful day and they loved being off leash...

Made sure the train that comes every six hours was no where near...

Then went to my friends, Beto, Hamburger stand and took home a delicious burger and fries...

Whilst I was waiting his daughter, Inoyu and I took the dogs for a walk, she loves Negrita!!

Cute!!

Tonight I watched my home town soccer team play and get beat..

Happy to say over 600 dollars donated into the go fund me account already, thank you!!
