Sunday 3rd July 2016...a lovely day!!!

As most of you know I was raised in the Salvation Army and my roots there I believe have made me the man I am today and this morning I was happy to accompany Janet and Malc to their place of worship...
 I enjoyed the service..

This particular branch of the Army does a great deal of community work

Here J & M with another helper prepare a lunch on Wednesdays for at least 40 people!!

A good time to read this below that I took from the Internet!!!

"I sit here at McDonalds, drinking a sprite. Okay, it's my third sprite. And the lady in the corner...waits. She's been here since before I got here. In walks a man with a small boy, maybe 3 years old if that. 'You were supposed to be here an Hour ago.' she says , slightly upset. 'Well I'm here and here he is.' The man turns to walk out the door. She says, 'Hey do you have a couple dollars so I can get a cheeseburger? All I have is enough for his happy meal.' He looks around to see if anyone is watching. 'Screw you, Starve.' He says and walks out the door. She just shakes her head and walks to the counter with the boy. She orders a happy meal for the boy. The teen at the counter tells her her card left a balance of 37 cents. She and the boy walk to her car where she digs and finds the change. She and the boy sit down with the happy meal, and she sets up his food and his tiny drink cup. She asks him if mommy can have a fry, to which he feeds her the one he just took a bite off of.(I kinda chuckled to myself.) I walk to the soda machine and refill my cup, Powerade this time. And the teen from the counter is refiling the napkins. I hand him my debit card. And tell him to give her 2 doubles and a large fry and a large drink on me. I tell him not to tell her its from me. I wrote a note on a napkin with my sharpie I use at work. "Keep your head up and always push forward. You CAN. You WILL. " He brings me my debit card. Then walks back to the counter and takes the tray of food to her. He says 'This was bought for you.' 'By who?' 'I'm not supposed to say, but it wasn't me.' He says and walks back to the counter. She reads the note on the napkin as tears start to roll down her cheeks. She fills the drink cup and starts to eat. The child trades her a chicken nugget, for a bite of the burger.(I chuckle again.) After they both finish their meal, they start to leave. They walk passed me sitting here and I smile at the boy and look at her and she whispers "thank you" I whisper back "for what?" She smiles. I wink. I look down at the boy and I say have a good day  Life is hard. Always be willing to make someones life a little easier. Little things make a big impact. For any single parent stuck in a similar place... Keep your head up and always push forward. You CAN. You WILL."
After we came home I nipped into town and saw this car in a parking lot...

This was the same kind of car I owned when I lived in Bermuda...mine was a mustard yellow!!!
I then went on my afternoon walk and did a different route this time off to see the windmill

I took a wrong turn and finished up in a corn field
but I eventually got to the windmill
and then passed these two fine animals..

I was walking back into town and passed the road leading to the halls of residence for the local University and they were holding a beer festival for a breast cancer foundation and had lined the railing with...well you guessed it!!!
Further into town I went at looked at this house..this is the home they lived in for over 30 years before they sold it just over three years ago..
The man that now owns the home above also owns this house below
and although he has done some work to J & M's old house he cannot move into it until he sells his house.....cannot see that happening it is huge and situated on a busy road!!!
Enjoyed my walk about 6 miles I reckon!!

Janet made her typical wonderful dinner of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with all the trimmings....she sure looks after us Pearson boys thanks Janet!!!
Then we settled in to watch Iceland play France in soccer...Iceland are the dream team advancing this far was almost unbelievable but the dream run ended tonight they were not disgraced but lost 5 - 2......
Hope you all had a great weekend..
Yashi kochi!!
