Wednesday 5th June 2019...Day 6!!!

Can you believe I am having camera issues again!!!

In the last several years I have had to purchase a few different cameras!!

It worked great at the beach but when I went to turn it on today...nothing...it would not open..nothing......

I found a camera store and the woman thought that the walking I did on the beach yesterday in the heat and the battery got fried.........she suggested a new battery but they did not have one in stock...

Went to a battery store and there they put in a new battery but still would not work..

Spoke to my camera guy in SMA and he suggested I keep it cool over night and that might help but he was not holding his breath...

So it seems that if it does not work by tomorrow I shall have to buy another new camera😞😞😞😞😞

My drive today was about two hours and most of it in pouring rain!!!

My Airbnb is wonderful!!!

Private bedroom with connecting bathroom with tub and my favourite bath salts.Dr.Teal.....fridge in the room and use of the kitchen and Monique even offered and did a small load of laundry for me!!!

I fail to understand why anyone stays at hotels anymore...this stay is 55 Canadian dollars!!!

Time for the bath and then I am going to watch something I don’t normally do.. Watch a basketball game..it is the finals and Toronto are in their first final!!

Tuesday 4 th June 2019...Day 5!!!!

Wanna come to the beach with me?????

On the advice of my host and with a chair, beach towel and sunscreen he loaned me I drove about twenty minutes to here.

My first stop was to see this pier..

The Navarre Beach pier's claim to fame is being the longest fishing pier in Florida, stretching 1,545 feet long and towering 30 feet above the water. You can stroll out onto the Navarre fishing pier for sweeping views of the beach and the dunes, rolling both directions as far as the eye can see.

Not shown on the photos but the beach was very crowded here so I drove another five miles to this amazing 🏝

It was hot about 90 degrees and I walked about three miles and collected some neat shells ..

Then this was my lunch time view..

Then the beach got crowded...

I mean really crowded..

Then it got packed....

The water was luke warm and I swam and frolicked...yes 71 year old men can still frolic!!!

What a day to myself and my thoughts!!!

Tonight again at my host’s recommendation I went to a fish barn.....wonderful fish and chips..

Now tea, cookies and West Wing!!

Life certainly is a beach!!

Monday 4th June 2019....Day 4!!!

At my Airbnb last night after I was settled in I spoke to Dada, the hostess, and told her that I had read her previous reviews and one mentioned the delicious carrot cake she had made...there were many thoughtful snacks and touches in my room BUT no carrot cake.....she laughed so hard and when I told her that her rating would go down from 5 stars to 4..she was so funny.....

So this morning as I came out of the bathroom there was a bag hanging on my bedroom door and inside was a box with a delicious looking carrot muffin!!!

Dada had already left for work but I did email her and thank her..one more of the joys of staying in a private home...

Today’s drive was at first on interstate and then the more leisurely back roads where you can travel at just the same speeds...

I left Georgia and into...

Then finally into..

Always think of my time with Roy when I see one of these...long time readers will remember Roy!!

Florida and arrived at my air bnb in Fort Walton Beach where I am staying two nights...James the owner was there to meet me ..my room is great with my own bathroom and use of the kitchen.....also many good references of beaches and restaurants!!

After getting settled in I took off and in ten minutes was at the beach...

Enjoy the photos and always good for me to be at the beach..it soothes my soul!!

Tomorrow it will be nice not to be packing up and moving and a beach day is planned!!

Sunday 2 nd June 2019...Day 3!!!!

I had a comfortable nights rest although I seem to be waking up really early!!!!

Left around 8.30 am and went in search of two waterfalls about an hour away.....this is the first one...

Very serene and calm!!

The second one was on the Blue Ridge Parkway...

A nice  hike to three different viewing platforms..

The people in the centre at the top are standing where I took the first photos!!

Then it was back to the car and get ready for a four hour drive to Atlanta....it went well with no issues.

In Atlanta I met with Gracie’s sister and picked up a few things to take back to SMA.....and then drove about 25 minutes to my Airbnb stay for the night...

A very friendly family and I have a private bedroom and bathroom and use of the kitchen!!

All settled in now with the usual tea cookies and an episode of West Wing!!

Tomorrow stay tuned I head to the beach!!!

Saturday 1st June 2019.....Day 2!!!

RABBITS RABBITS RABBITS!!!!

Sent to me by Emily...yesterday morning before I left...she is adorable...

I woke up very early this morning but that was OK as it fitted in with my plans being on the road before 6 am...

I drove this route..

All on Interstate roads to my destination Stone Mountain State Park North Carolina...

The loop trail was almost five miles...come along and enjoy the climb and the awesome views!!!

Then hiked to the base of the mountain..

Then the big slog to the top...

Wonderful views and a fairleasy decent....

It was a really good workout!!!

I then drove twenty minutes to a small town called Elkin where I had researched and there was a sports pub and by 3 pm I was. In the pub in a room to myself watching the Champions league soccer final live from Spain!!

These two English teams  had thrilling matches to get to the final but as sometimes happen the final game was a big disappointment and not the blockbuster everyone was expecting!!

Interesting this team Liverpool hoisted the trophy...their home stadium is the one Malc and I toured last year!!!

Another few minutes drive to my Airbnb...a lovely place the owner is not here but she left me all instructions and the key outside.....

I just had a long soak in the tub and now settling down for some computer work and a movie..there may even be tea and some cookies!!
