Tuesday 7th December 2010…I know I sound like a broken record BUT it was another great day!!

Woke up to fog this morning and a little cooler but as soon as the sun came through everything warmed up.

Today was the day I was going back to the little school that we went to last week delivering presents and it was Linda who had the great idea to give the kids copies of the photos I took.  I did get copies made.. two for each child for their family and I took Bonita and away I went it is about 15 km out of town on some very bumpy roads…of course there has to be a soccer pitch close by..

I soon arrived at the school and the children I think remembered me and Catalina brought chairs for them to sit in on the playground.

The first order of business was to eat the cookies and drink the juices I had brought for them!!!

OK ladies how many of you wish you had eye lashes like this youngster??????

The looks on their faces when they saw themselves on the photos was priceless!!!

I am hoping the families will be delighted to have photos of their child!!!

Soon it was time to leave and I got big waves!!!!

I stopped at the market on the way home to top up my strawberry supply…some interesting photos at the market

There is a look out over the city on the way home and I like this photo of the main church!!

Back home there was time for a little R & R and then back to the tennis courts for a game of singles…the days rest did me good it was the best game I have played…..and it was great fun.  I noticed that three more RV’s have arrived and I had a quick chat as  I know them from last year, will visit longer later.

So now you see why it was a great day!!!

Monday 6th December 2010…a photo less blog!!

It was a little hectic this morning making sure Linda  and Guy had everything they needed packed and ready for Jaime to pick them up and take them to the airport in Leon, about a 90 minute drive away.

After they left I spent the morning getting things brought in from Ramona and making sure  everything was OK for the ten week stay…..photos tomorrow but she is parked right out side the casa and the street is a cul de sac and the casa is at the end so not too much traffic…

This afternoon I did some errands in town and then went for my Spanish lesson….this time we did a walk about town and I bought some vegetables and it was good to talk and try out my Spanish whilst looking at different things….

Then some grocery shopping and back to the casa for supper and now relaxing watching TV…..the satellite cable is Shaw Cable the same as in Nanaimo so I shall be able to watch mostly Canadian shows and of course hockey and soccer…

Did I mention it was sunny today????

Sunday 5th December 2010…yet another tennis game…..

Here I was this morning sitting out in the sun reading my newspaper and having tea when 3 people came to play on the tennis court right next to me and after a few minutes one of them came over and asked if I wanted to make up a foursome….so I quickly got changed and played tennis for two hours and again very enjoyable!!!

After a shower and some lunch went up to Casa Hogar and saw Daniela and her little sister Lupita…

I wanted to take the girls down town but if my Spanish was correct the Madres told me that some of the girls were going to a dance including Daniela but I could take Paola and one of her friends….

So Paola and Lupita and I took a taxi to the main central plaza

It was so hot that ice cream was the order of the day..

After I took the girls back to Casa Hogar I came back to the RV park and loaded Ramona up and came to the dreaded gate again to leave…

Had to wait for the car to move before I could get out…

A tight squeeze but made it OK….so now Ramona is resting comfortably outside Linda and Guy’s casa where she will stay until the middle of February and now I have a beautiful home to live in and enjoy…..

Hope the weekend was a good one…..

Saturday 4th December 2010…another day in Paradise!!

Started off this morning with a singles tennis game at 11am which again was a lot of fun and then went over to Casa Hogar to see my girls but they were I think out at a church, so I will stop by and see them tomorrow.

Tonight I was an invited guest of Linda and Guy at their Rotary Club Christmas Party….

Waiting for other guests to arrive…the food was very good and then the highlight of the night the entertainment by a group called Tuna Traditional…

 

They were extremely talented musicians and played Christmas, Mexican and Traditional favourites…this gentleman below

showed us the back of his instrument after the show…

He said his wife fixed it for him…it is a pot lid!!!!

It was a very lovely evening all round.

This is my last night in the RV park tomorrow I move Ramona to Linda and Guy’s Casa as they leave on Monday….it has been a whirlwind of two weeks……blessings to all!!

Friday 3rd December 2010…Seems I just cannot win!!

Now I am getting complaints that yesterday’s photo was just too much so we are back to churches and roads today!!!!!

Started off my morning with 2 hours of doubles tennis and again I really enjoyed myself.  I followed this by a couple of hours of reading and sunbathing.

Just as I was about to leave for my Spanish lesson I received a message from my teacher that she would have to cancel as she was sick.  So I went into town and did some errands.

Linda had a great idea… that the children we went to see on Monday and gave  gifts their families probably do not have any photos of the kids and how nice it would be to try and get them copies of the photos I took.

Well I found a place that would do that… I put the photos on my memory stick and took the stick in and 30 minutes later I had made 2 copies for each child, 20 photos altogether, 6 inches by 4 inches gloss, total cost 60 pesos about $5 …..amazed again!!

Thursday 2nd December 2010…a day of rest

I have been here in SMA almost two weeks and it seems every day on the go and the hours just fly by so decided today would be a day of rest and it was…breakfast, sun, reading, eating and snoozing.  In the afternoon a gentleman came over and asked me if I wanted to play tennis later and of course I said yes and we played at 5pm and it was a very good hour…I am still very rusty but getting there… if that famous Pearson forehand would just come back…….

Long hot shower some soup for dinner and now going to watch a movie with tea and cookie and get ready for what appears to be a hectic weekend….

Did you ladies enjoy the below photo!!!!!  My Mother would just look at me and say “Leslie!!!”  She always told me I was a show off!!!!!

Wednesday 1st December 2010….as my Mamma taught me to say on the first of the month ..”Rabbits, Rabbits, Rabbits”

I have my name down on the substitute list here here at the small tennis club and today I got the call to make up a foursome…so my first competitive game of tennis in nearly 35 years!!!!!

 

I don’t want to brag….OK well I will, when I lived in Bermuda I was considered one of the top players and have tournament wins to prove it…

and yes I also received style points for the HAIR!!!!

So what do you think the difference 35 years make???

Well it was a great morning and might I say I only lost my serve once…..a smashing time I had.

The usual afternoon, sun, food, sleep, reading and snoozing..tonight Linda and Guy and another couple of our friends we are all going out for dinner and then when I get back to their casa watch the Canucks play hockey on TV…not a bad start to the month!!!
