Saturday 17th August 2013…what a busy day!!

Started off at 6.30am having breakfast watching a live soccer game from England…at 9am I went to play tennis Loren and I played two hours of great singles, the weather was perfect…I dashed straight from the tennis courts to the yoga mat where I had a 2 hour session of restorative yoga…are you tired yet???

I told you about the civil list yesterday a forum for local people one of the posts the last day has been about a homeless man and his dog living under a tarp and a local woman was doing a collection for him so I went to where he is and met the lady and donated some money

My Grannie Pearson's words came to mind…”Count your blessings name them one by one!!!!”

From here it was home for a quick lunch and a shower and then I drove to Linda and Guy’s home…Linda went to Guadalajara for a couple of days and was returning this afternoon on the bus…so I took their van and went to the bust station

to pick her up.

seeing all these luxury buses

reminded me of my travels through Europe for 8 weeks last summer.

After taking Linda home I finally came home to stay…..yes it was a busy day but one I enjoyed.

Had a great long soak and supper and going to finish the day the way I started it by watching a soccer game from England…

Friday 16th August 2013…beautiful weather beautiful day!!!

Being as it is Friday it is now declared the Pearson day when I go out on an adventure for the day and today was no exception.

In SMA there is a computer civil list where residents or anyone really can sign up and if you have questions they usually get answered like most public forums they can get a bit out of hand but I have used it now for years and have always had prompt and great responses to my questions.  I posted last week about anyone having knowledge of hiking trails in the area and yesterday I met the leader of a hiking group but more about him next week but I also received an answer from a lady named Christine who took the time to write me detailing very specific instructions for a hike outside of town where she lives..they were excellent instructions and this morning I packed up got on Little Blackie and away I went.

First of all through my own fault entirely I turned too early but glad I did because I came upon these views of the city.

Then there was this wonderful gate leading to nowhere!!!!!

I soon found the correct turn off and the road starts here at the big mall

who would think just 3 miles down a cobble road from this big expansive mall you would see sights like this!!!

The directions took me through a lovely little village with a very old church

I found the trail head and was off up in those hills.

It was quite a hike through scrub brush but did get to the top and my view looking back down to the village with lunch!!

I continued to climb and over the next peak was this small body of water.

I took a different route back on the other side of the creek and the views here were impressive.

I really was out in the boonies…

I really have no idea how far I hiked I know it was a good distance and very enjoyable.

On the way back through the village I love this shot!!!

I was home by 5pm tired but happy and treated myself to some rooftop relaxation before I came in and over supper watched a great tennis match between two of the most famous players ever…Roger and Rafa…

What a nice day I do enjoy times like these where I go off on an adventure and usually I am thrilled with the outcome…hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!

Thursday 15th August 2013…sunny skies return!!!

So that meant tennis was a go and it was another great two hours and something happened during the game I have never seen before either in person on TV…..one of the guys was just about to serve when a medium sized bird flew and landed on the net in the center of the court..we were all amazed and just stood and watched…..the bird stayed about 15 seconds then took off did a small loop and came and landed again almost on the same place and then took off…never quite seen anything like it!!!

I then went to meet a man who is the manager of a local hiking group we talked and he told me of different hikes  around the area and they hike Sunday mornings and I will go except this Sunday they are going to the park where I went last Friday.

Came home and had lunch and watched some tennis on TV and then went on the roof and relaxed with my book.

Really had  a lazy afternoon and evening but still surprised where the day goes.

Wednesday 14th August 2013…….fun filled Wednesday!!

Sunny skies returned and after breakfast I went to pick up Paola I had noticed that the gums at the top of her mouth looked inflamed so I had booked a dental appointment for her..we both really like Dr.Laura!!!

Dr.Laura told me that the gums were just fine there was no issues her teeth were Ok but maybe in a few months she made need a brace on her top teeth and to bring her back at the end of the year…the cost was 50 pesos maybe 4 dollars!!!

From there we went to my casita where it was bike riding time, she does love riding her bike..we rode around the neighborhood and a couple of sights on the way..

We then had lunch and I turned on the TV and there was a cartoon show in English but describing the alphabet and she knows all the letters this reminds me I will enroll her in English class over the Winter!!

We stopped and bought some fruit for her to take home and then I was off to poker…so not content with my 300 pesos raffle ticket win yesterday I came away from poker with another 300 pesos win..I need to go to Vegas!!!

I then went over to Linda and Guy’s for a visit and was home by 6.pm.

a quiet relaxing evening at home….no rain so far so let us hope tennis is on tomorrow.

Tuesday 13th August 2013………..yet again!!!

So the heavy rain last night did me in again no tennis this morning so plan B was after breakfast to go into the canyons behind my casita as I have said before I really enjoy hiking up there I do not see anyone and the views are quite dramatic…want to join me this morning??

It was a good hike and home to have a shower and go down town to the Rotary club meeting I wanted to hear this week’s speaker…

It was a great concept about bringing peace and understanding to the primary school kids…a very interesting presentation!!!

Not too clear but what a wonderful mandate.

When I came to the meeting they were selling raffle tickets and I bought 6 for 50 pesos…I was sitting next to my lovely friend Robin and when they announced they were going to draw the winning ticket I pulled my tickets out

and said to Robin..”You know I have never ever won anything”  of course as soon as the words were out of my mouth they called my number!!!!

Back at home I retired to the roof top and read and relaxed for a while before going back into town for my first yoga lesson…..I really enjoyed it and already feel that my posture is a little better…

Monday 12th August 2013….a bit of everything!!!!

Pati came to clean my casita this morning so I always go out and today I decided to treat myself to breakfast down in Centro at the café Monet where I have been before I took my Spanish book and studied while I had some good hotcakes and orange juice…the service was not great but no problem and I asked for my bill which my waitress brought to me inside a black folder….the bill was 45 pesos not even 4 dollars….I had no change so I put a 200 pesos not in the boll fold and handed it back to her.  She came back a few minutes later and because I have 14 years as a waiter in my resume I am a very generous tipper…..she handed me the bill fold and sort of hovered around I opened it and immediately handed her a 20 pesos note she said thanks and turned and left….it was then that I noticed there was another 20 pesos note and 3  x 5pesos coins, she had shorted me 100pesos..she looked back at me and I called her over and before I had chance to say anything she handed me a 100pesos note…there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this was not an honest mistake but an attempt to steal 100pesos from me..I was upset and for once in my life did not know what to do I wanted to take away the tip but I did not she walked away and I noticed that the owner of the restaurant was not around…I know this sort of thing happens and even though I am the most trusting person there is I still keep my guard up this really did not sit well with me!!!

I came home and showered and changed and went to my Monday lecture class last week was the first one and the topic is living forever and the ramifications…I am glad I went but really not impressed with the instructor and felt I learned nothing and you could tell the class, all females , felt the same way…..when I got home tonight there was an e mail from the course organizer saying that she felt the class was not going well and had spoken to the instructor, who give him credit is a volunteer, and she is changing the format of the remaining 2 classes to discussion group..a great idea!!

I went from that class to my first private yoga class…..it was wonderful the instructor is a gem she is very caring and put me through some moves and I felt taller when I left she told me the class would benefit me so much health wise, sports wise and mind wise…so I have signed up for a month of classes Mondays and Tuesdays…….got absolutely drenched on the way home so jumped straight into a lovely hot bath…

Joke of the day!!

A  SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that, in  Spanish,
unlike English, nouns are designated as either  masculine or feminine.
'House' for instance, is feminine:  'la casa.'
'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.'  
So, a student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?'  
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the  class into
two groups, male and female, and asked them to  decide for themselves
whether 'computer' should be a masculine  or a feminine noun.
Each group was asked to give four  reasons for its
recommendation. The men's group decided that  'computer' should
definitely be of the feminine gender ('la  Computadora'), because:
1. No one but their creator  understands their internal logic;
2. The native  language they use to communicate with other
computers is  incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the  smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for
possible  later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a  commitment to one, you find yourself
spending half your  paycheck on accessories for it.
(THIS GETS BETTER!)  
The women's group, however, concluded that computers  should be
Masculine
('el computador'), because:
1.  In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;  
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for  themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve  problems, but half the
time they ARE the problem; and  
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if  you had
waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better  model.
The women won.

Sunday 11th August 2013…a really lazy day!!!

First of all I want to thank the hundreds of my female readers for the kind comments on the blog header photograph yesterday of yours truly!!!!!

 

Today was going to be a lazy quiet day and the gloomy skies helped……nothing much to report today except I watched a very one sided tennis game in which Nadal gave the local Canadian upstart a rude awakening and followed that by watching the final rounds of the PGA golf….

So you can see no walks, no hikes, no tennis….

So happy to report my elbow does not have that dull ache that it  had all last week and I have been putting hot compresses on throughout the day…..

I did do a big downsize in my closet and also sorted out some papers and did some research on a little mini trip I plan to take next month.

Saturday 10th August 2013..a non stop day!!!

I was up at 8am making lunches, packing fruit and drinks for the kids…then it was off to exchange the scooter for the car and to pick up Daniela from Casa Hogar she was waiting for me with a lovely smile..then it was off to get Paola and Andreas…Leonardo did not come not sure why…..off to the pottery class I had enrolled them in.

I hung around a few minutes to see that they were comfortable and then left them with smiles, they were happy.

I went to play tennis at 11am and again Loren and I played 2 hours of wonderful tennis…this is the other group that I play with…

After tennis I had some lunch then went back to the class and watched the class…the two young teachers were very good with the kids and they will bake the pots and cups the kids made today and I will pick them up next week…judging by the smiles on their faces and the paint on their bodies they had a blast!!!

After class in which they all went and thanked the teachers without a prompt from me it was time for juice and a pizza….for me it was great to see Daniela and Paola together again and being so happy with each other they were best friends for five years and this is the first time they have together since Christmas so I was just thrilled.

I dropped them off and then went to an appointment with a medical/holistic/shaman PR actioner for my elbow….I was very impressed with him and we talked and then he had me on the table and he released the energy flow and manipulated all parts of my body and then told me that the next step was going to hurt me as he was going to stretch the tendons in my arm and he was not lying it did hurt a lot…I was on the table for over an hour and then he told me three thin gs that would really increase my health…firstly for the elbow not to ice but to use hot compress then it was OK to ice but then to finish off with another hot compress….the next thing he told me was that my body was strong and healthy, my energy was flowing correctly but I was completely in flexible and that I needed to go to yoga class specifically Iyengar style and he put me in touch with a master teacher here she is almost 80 years of age and finally he told me for the arthritis on my knee and my overall good health every morning before anything else I need to fix myself a boiling hot drink of water the juice of a lemon or lime and 2 tablespoons of olive oil and to do this everyday…….when I left I was very calm and relaxed with a little sore elbow but he told me that would go away soon to rest tomorrow and play tennis next Tuesday..I am going to follow his advice will keep you informed.

So after leaving at 8.30am I did not get home till 7pm..time for supper a bath and then watched a great tennis game from Montreal… a busy but great day and I leave you with these photos of my lovely kids!!!!
