Friday 15th June 2012……Gob smacked Day Two!!!

Yes I had a victory but far from happy!!!

A beautiful sunny and warm morning and we were ready for another exciting day!!!

On our way to the cable car there were many waterfalls…

The cable car we took is an incredible feat of engineering and construction!!!

Enjoy the ride up and the views and this is the mountain featured in one of the earliest James Bond movies!!

The little building in the middle is where we are heading..

I don’t think I have been as high as this before at the top we are surrounded by majestic peaks!!!

There is a revolving restaurant at the top and as you can imagine the prices were sky high too!!!

On the way down one of the stops for the cable car is this tiny village where there are no vehicles..

We stopped here for lunch and it is just a delight everywhere you look panoramic views!!

This was such a lovely place…back on the cable car and now the next stop!!!

Words are not able to describe the force and power of these falls and the slot canyons remind me of those in Arizona….this area was a testimony to the beauty and power of Mother Nature!!!

You take a small cable car up to slot chute No 5 then walk a ways up to chute 10 then walk all the way down…it was awesome!!!

The day wasn’t finished yet the last stop was another small and beautiful with a huge waterfall!!!

There was a small footpath going a little way up at the side of the falls…

We arrived back at the campsite at 6p, and time for a cuppa and a bit of a sun bathe before Malc and I gave Janet the night off…I BBQ some chicken and Malc fixed the spuds and veggies!!!

Malc and I then went to watch the England V Sweden soccer game at the TV in the camp office and the scrabble game did not start till after 11pm with the usual results….

No comment.

So what an incredible day!!!!

It is now Saturday morning and we are all packed up and on the road……Switzerland is one very pretty, clean and special place……we are now in Italy…more to follow!!!!

My ego is completely done I shall never be the same!!!!

Spoke to Carolyn today as I had asked if she could go visit Paola and take her the Birthday bag I left for her…Carolyn told me that at first Paola was very quiet and sad but after a while warmed up and then when Carolyn asked her if she could take photos of her and the gifts to show me…she beamed and it was like a fashion show and when Carolyn left she was all smiles and happy…..Carolyn does not know how to download the photos to send to me(I shall not mention that she is blonde) but I am just so happy that Paola had a good day..thank you so much Carolyn!!!

OK Gob smacked..Google it if you do not know the expression!!!

We went out an a full days trip which started here

It is like a cog system.

Today was the birthday of the Railway and as a special offer they were offering the seats for 25 Euros instead of the usual 60 Euros.

the notes are quite bright and we are finding things very expensive here but todays train trip was worth much more!!!

So sit back and here we go up the mountain!!!

As the name suggests Interlaken is in the middle of the two lakes..

After one hour we came to the terminal and were free to walk around I went off on my own and hiked further up the mountain it was majestic and spectacular!!!

It was a wonderful unforgettable journey..back at the parking lot by 2pm and we all devoured Janet's amazing packed lunch and then off to the tiny town of

Back home by 6pm and the sun  still shining and I was toast!!!

Time for scrabble say no more!!!!!

Wednesday 13th June 2012…Happy Birthday Paola and Switzerland!!!!

Paola I hope you have a special and wonderful Birthday!!!!

So I bet you are wondering how two people can win at scrabble?  Well let me tell you….it was a close game and Janet was in front but Malc was catching up I was ..well let me say I was a bit behind…so with the last move of the game I helped Janet make a 20 point score and the victory..so I consider this a victory for Janet and a half for me……for those keeping a tally the Champion so far is Mally with 3…Janet with 2….and me the supposed Scrabble whiz kid in third place with one and half points!!!!

We were all packed up and on the road by 9.30am this morning and about 80minutes later hitting the border with Switzerland.

There is no customs control and all we had to do was pay a road toll of 35 Euros for the car and for Stella…this toll is good for a year and well worth it as we later found out the roads are very well maintained and there are lots of tunnels!!

Another hour and we were at the camp site Malc had found just outside Interlaken!!!

The cost of the camp site was about 40 Euros but that includes an extra person, Tilley the tent and also a pass for free buses and trains and some discounts on the cable cars.  The facilities are top notch the best so far!!!!

After some lunch we took the bus

into town…….enjoy the walk around a bit wet at times but still enjoyable!!!!

It was an interesting afternoon and just a sample of what is in store for us the next few days..back on the bus and Janet prepared a gourmet supper and our view out of the window during supper!!!!

I am happy to be in charge of dishes!!!

Now 10pm and Malc and I are going to see if at the camp office we can watch some soccer then back for the late night scrabble game!!!
