Tuesday 6th March 2012…..a little bit of everything!!

Forgot to mention yesterday that when I arrived here there is a time difference by one hour so I woke up early this morning but that was OK I went and did my beach walk I think just over two miles and it was a great way to start the day.

After breakfast it was time for my laundry chores!!

Then went over to Gail and Larry’s and saw this guy on the roof!!

Larry and I went on a little road trip about 15 miles down the highway to a new development under construction..we had a tour of the property and lots were selling for over 200,000 dollars…not for me!!!

We then stopped in the little beach town of Chacala…a lovely setting!!

We didn’t get back till 5pm and it was a great afternoon and whilst we had been having fun Gail was slaving away in the kitchen and look what she did!!!!!

They invited me back for supper and you can tell by this photo that this is my kind of a meal!!!

Pork chop, mashed potato, stuffing, veg and gravy!!!!

I have to say the lemon pie that followed was the best pie I have ever tasted!!!!  Thanks so much!!

Monday 5th March 2012…on the road again this time heading north!!

Said my goodbyes to Paula and Jerry, we had some great times and Paula caught me on camera as I was leaving!!

Here I go!!!!

The road to Puerto Vallarta is a slow road that goes through quite a few towns with lots of topes (speed bumps).

The local law is that dual wheeled vehicles have to use the lateral lanes (the inside lanes) through PV and as you can see they are very busy!!!

As you can imagine it is no fun driving through here!!

There is a huge Wal-Mart on the far side of PV and I stopped and picked up some supplies!!

About 5 hours after I left I arrive at Rincon and went to the small RV/cabin place I always stay…it is 25 US dollars a night but well worth it..only 5 spots with full hooks ups, bathrooms with hot showers and Wi-Fi a great pool and on the beach…check it out!!!!

I am about 50 feet from the pool and 100 feet from the ocean!!

I was looking for a propane station on the drive and never saw one and was a bit worried because I was getting low but as luck would have it when I took a walk on the road by the RV park there was a propane truck delivering gas so I asked him if he would come by and fill me up and sure enough he did no problem!!!

I went for my long beach walk again before getting cleaned up!!

My friends Gail and Larry are staying in an apartment one block away and today is Gail’s Birthday….HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

There was a small party for her tonight which was lovely!!!

Doesn’t Gail looked thrilled with my beso (kiss)!!!!  I must be loosing my touch!!!!!!

Wouldn’t be a Mexican birthday party without a Piñata!!!

So a good drive and now settled for at least a week…..PURA VIDA!!

Sunday 4th March 2012……….ARMY DAY!!!!!

Now you have heard me speak and write about these special friends Paula and Jerry that I met in Nova Scotia last summer and we became really great friends and have met a few times here in Mexico in SMA and Maruata and now here in Melaque…well………what I did not tell you…is they are just a tad strange!!!!

They told me two days ago that today is Army Day!!!! I said what??   Army day they said March 4th…March fourth…March fourth as in a march..so Army Day…….go figure!!!

Anyway this is for P & J!!!!

This is really hard for me to believe but tomorrow when I leave here it will be the start of my journey home to Nanaimo……after nearly 9 months on the road I am finally going north!!!!

Spent the morning doing chores and getting Ramona ready for the road then met Inga and we had a great long beach walk and then said my farewell to her…I have enjoyed her company and glad she is doing great!!!

Came back  home and  with P & J spent the rest of the afternoon by the pool!!!

About 4.30pm I came back to Ramona to get my book and my Skype message was flashing on the computer and I answered and look who I saw!!!!!!!!!

The miracle of modern technology!!!   Sara had the girls for the afternoon and they were at her Casita and here is Daniela skyping me!!!!!  We had a little chat and it was wonderful to see her lovely smiling face!!!!!!

Sad to say Paola was supposed to go with Sara but when she went to get the girls the Madres told Sara that she had gone to her Mother’s for the day…..Sara took Daniela, Jermina and Gege…so that was wonderful for them, thanks Sara for setting that up and showing Daniela how to Skype!!!!

After the pool is was time for the final game of Mexican Train and modesty forbids me from telling you who was victorious!!!!!!

P & J made wonderful BLT’s for supper followed by delicious flan!!!!

So yesterday it was farewell to my great friends, Barb, Joy, Frank and Colin and today it was Inga and now Paula and Jerry I am just so blessed to have so many great people in my life!!!!  Thank you!!!!

So I leave in the morning for the small beach town of

Rincon de Guayabitos about one hour north of Puerto Vallarta here my wonderful friends Gail and Larry are staying!!!!

This is the start of my long journey north so after months of being on the road the end is in the distance…what a journey!!!!!

So thanks everyone in Barra for being so great to me!!!

Saturday 3rd March 2012….some fond farewells!!!

This morning was another easy morning and then I went back to the small town 20km away where I had ordered some meat pies…on the way I came across this sight!!

Really hard to imagine how on a straight stretch of road something like this could happen.

Traffic was backed up a long way when the tow truck was pulling the truck out but with Bonita I was able to scoot around the side and did not have to wait!!!

This afternoon I went over to Barb, Joy, Frank and Colin’s casa for our final game of Mexican Train and as usual Barb was victorious!!!!

Then other friends Pat and Joe came over and we sat around talking and then a great meal…it was a lovely evening.  Barb and Frank live on Vancouver Island so I shall see them in May but Joy and Colin probably not till next winter…thank you all for being such good and kind friends to me all these years!!!!

Now listening to the Canucks getting hammered in their game against Buffalo…….

A real lazy morning doing some small chores and errands and then after lunch did my big long beach walk and swim and then it was time to read and sleep and snore I am sure but nobody around to hear me!!!

Then got cleaned up as I was taking Paula and Jerry out on the town!!!

 

It was all planned and we arrived here at 5pm!!!

To my brother…Malc do you remember me taking you here a few years ago?????

Sit back and enjoy the show!!!

We enjoyed the show it was a bit different but not crass….

Then P & J treated me to ribs and steak at Scoobey's!!!!

Thank you so much it was a good evening and a great meal…..

So really a laid back day for me and now the usual tea, cookies and a movie!!!!!

Thursday 1st March 2012……Rabbits, rabbits. rabbits!!!!

WOW where does the time go a new month already…….

Had an easy morning and went with Paula and Jerry  here for breakfast!!!

Hope is wasn’t going to be a frog leg omelet!!!!!

Actually the restaurant was very clean and well set out and food was great..thanks for breakfast P & J!!!!

I then did my usual long and enjoyable beach walk and then around 5pm went over to Barb, Joy, Frank and Colin’s for a game of Mexican train which we didn’t get to finish, then had a great supper and lots of great conversations….I am so lucky to have so many of my special friends in one place..

Now home listening to the Canucks hockey on the computer.

Paula sent me this photo of little Diane from Maruata   …she is the little tyke that when I asked her for a kiss would peck my cheek….I must add there was no beer in this bottle…what a great photo!!!!
