Before I left on my round the world trek I used to have a very busy(by choice) life here in San Miguel but Friday's were kind of special for me because that was the day I would make no appointments, no classes, no meetings and i spent the day on my own and had a calm and lovely day...well it looks like my schedule will allow for that again.
This morning I had my yogurt and peaches and was packed up and out on Little Blackie to my favorite hike in SMA......this hike is best done in the rainy season but even with no water flowing it is still to me a tranquil and gorgeous hike and so close to town!!!
I drove and parked in the Mega grocery store car park and walked first down a street and then onto a track.....in the photo below look really closely to the left of the big hydro pole in the center on top of the hill and you will see a small white cross...that is where I am heading..
After I put the above photo in I had a brain wave...I know a rare occurrence.....I should try the new snipping tool that I have in the last two weeks learned how to use and see if it works on my photos and guess what??
It works!!!
Check out the size of the stones in this wall...
This is at the base of the canyon and in the rainy season water pounds over the rocks into this pool and the kids use it as a swimming hole...
Looking back on the way up..that is the Pressa a man made lake and where I used to live...
after 45 minutes I reached the summit and the views quite lovely even on an overcast day!!!
Another ten minute walk and you come to the suspension bridge which I have crossed many times....
This is taken about hal way across the bridge and again in the rainy season a waterfall appears in the crevice!!
This is new since I was last here last year!!
This is my secret place I sit here and just think and give thanks especially today and again usually another waterfall here..
Looking back at the bridge...
This is where the waterfall starts
and goes over the cliff to the water below
Just a great hike you have to come back the same way and i so enjoyed my time.
On the way back home I stopped at a local vender and treated myself to some flowers!!
A man having lunch..neat hat!!!!
Back home found a place for the flowers!!
Then it was time to sit and watch live International soccer..France v Sweden and it was an entertaining game....
At 5.30 pm I walked up to town to my favorite restaurant, Hecho's en Mexico...I met one of my tennis friends, Deb, there and we caught up on our lives in the last 18 months..it was good to see her again.....by the way in years past my meal here was always the same Chicken Fingers and fries....this evening a huge and lovely Cobb's Salad!!!!!
Just spent the night at home reading and watching some TV......cannot believe how in 4 days I have arrived and have my old life back and I live in a beautiful casita...all I need to do is buy a couple of plants for the patio and it is complete.
On a sad this incredible man passed away.....
Canadian singer Leonard Cohen dies aged 82
Canadian singer Leonard Cohen has died aged 82, according to a statement on his official Facebook page.
"It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away," the announcement said.
"We have lost one of music's most revered and prolific visionaries."
There were no details about the cause of Cohen's death. A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date, the announcement said.
The Montreal-born singer's hits included Suzanne and I'm Your Man and he released his 14th album, You Want It Darker, just last month.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
"This is a very unlikely occasion for me. It is not a distinction that I coveted or even dared dream about," he said.
Born into a Jewish family, he later became a student of Zen Buddhism.
For five years, from 1994 to 1999, he took a break from the music industry and lived at Mount Baldy Zen Center, east of Los Angeles.
"My life was filled with great disorder, with chaos, and I achieved a little discipline there," he said.
"So I decided to return to music.''
'High priest of pathos'
Leonard Cohen was called "the high priest of pathos" and the "godfather of gloom"
But the influence and appeal of this poet, novelist, songwriter and legendary ladies' man has endured throughout his career.
Often prone to depression throughout his life, his often witty, charming and self-deprecating manner was reflected in his lyrics.
Record label Sony Music said it was proud to have "celebrated Cohen's artistry" over his six-decade career.
"Leonard Cohen was an unparalleled artist whose stunning body of original work has been embraced by generations of fans and artists alike," it said in a statement.
"The Sony Music Canada family joins the world in mourning Leonard Cohen's passing."
Cohen's songs included Bird On The Wire, Hallelujah and So Long Marianne, written about his lover and muse Marianne Ihlen, whom he met in Greece in the 1960s.
She also inspired the song Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye.
In July this year, when he heard that Ihlen was near to death, he wrote to her: "Well Marianne, it's come to this time when we are really so old and our bodies are falling apart and I think I will follow you very soon."
Singers, writers and politicians paid tribute to Cohen on social media.
Now please go to You Tube and enter Hallelujah Pentatonix and listen to this harrowing rendition of the song it will I know move you...

Next time we're in San Miguel we'll have to do that hike. Leonard Cohen's music will waft through our house for many years to come. I love the Bobby helmet!
It is the best and no transport needed and in the rainy season delightful..I like his music too and the helmet is the one I wore for 6 months in Bermuda cheers L
