Tuesday 19th February 2013……Day 3!!

Well the girls slept in this morning so I walked down to the bakery at 8.30am but the goodies and bread was not ready yet so came home and went upstairs onto the rooftop and did my Spanish studying with a cup of tea…..when the girls showed their faces it was after 10am and Paola and I walked back to the bakery and some items for breakfast and Sara made fruit smoothies……I packed up lunch and drinks and we headed off to the beach for the afternoon!!

This is a bird sanctuary at one end of the beach….Sara and I took turns watching and playing with the kid!!

Lunch seemed to go down well!!

Back to the ocean

Sara went back home and Paola decided to bury me!!!  Sorry no photos…I really enjoy the time alone we have she is very happy and shows it in her smile and the way she looks at me this has been a great time for us….we walked home and the girls had showers and got cleaned up

the girls went into the village for supper and I went back to the beach for the sunset…and saw these beautiful lilies on the way!!

The sunset was quite nice!!

I walked home through town and saw these 5 year old sisters so cute!!

I had a shower and then the girls came home and we had tea and Paola watched a movie

whilst I…..I know I sound like a broken record..BUT…I beat Sara again at Backgammon!!!!

So now 11.30pm and ready for bed…the big wedding tomorrow so stay tuned.

Monday 18th February 2013…Day 2!!!!

First of all Happy birthday to my special and long time friend Karen hope you have a great day!!

We all slept well and had breakfast on the roof top terrace…check out the pajama top Paula and Jerry!!

We then walked into the little town and found this great hidden away bakery..

We bought some rolls that had just come out of the oven they were really tasty!!

Around 11am Paola and I left Sara at home to study and visit her friends and we drove to the next small town about 9 miles away where my special friends Gail and Larry are down for the winter..it was great to see them again and we all visited and then whilst Gail made some lunch Paola and I went shopping   …..here is the end result new crocks, hat and shades!!!!

Lunch was great and then it was beach time…just Paola and me and two large rubber inner tubes and we spent the next 3 hours, yes you read it right 3 hours in the ocean and we had a blast…she is so easy to be with and never stopped smiling!!!

We came back tired but happy and Gail supervised whilst Paola showered and cleaned up and then we sat down to a great home cooked meal!!!!

Paola found a bike so she was a happy camper!!

We did not leave till after 8pm…thanks Gail and Larry for your wonderful hospitality and for taking such great care of Paola she had a special day!!!!

Came home and Paola wrote her diary and Sara and I played Backgammon and modesty forbids me from telling you that I was victorious again!!!

What a thrill to see this kid having so much fun and also we actually got through on the cell phone to her Mum so Paola was able to talk to her……

Sunday 17th February 2013……Day 1!!!!!!

I picked Sara up at 7.50am and loaded her 15 suitcases into the car…well it seemed like 15 and off we went to get Paola who was waiting for us and we left SMA by 8.10am….I had made sandwiches and had lots of drinks and snacks and games and books so the journey went well and we stopped three times for the usual pit stops….most of the road was toll highways

Carolyn had given me good written directions one of which was to look out for the table mountain!!!

Sara was a good navigator and the drive only had one problem I reckon we came upon this accident about 10 minutes after it happened and a good job too because the semi trailer tipped his load of cucumbers right across our lane!!

Here you see one of about a dozen people that had stopped and were carrying away handfuls of  cucumbers!!!

Paola was no trouble at all in the car and we gave her the job of counting and giving me the money for the toll roads!

Exactly 8 hours after picking up Paola we were at the casita in

The casita is very nice and about 3 blocks from the beach..

This is taken from the roof top must try and catch the driver tomorrow!!!!

So now we are on our way to the beach…this is the biggie for me..the first time Paola has seen the beach and the ocean!!!!!

She was just full of joy and Sara took good care of her in the water until she was confident!!!

The beach here is beautiful!!

It was so much fun to watch her frolicking in the waves just unbridled happiness!!!!

I really enjoyed my first dip of the year!!!

 

It was a great time we had….came home and we all showered and then went to meet Sara’s friends and the couple that are getting married on Wednesday…there was about 30 people there and they provided us with chicken for dinner and we all had a good meal…Paola was so popular and everyone came to say hello to her.

We came home around 9pm and Sara and I had tea and I wanted Paola to write a journal each day and she sat for about 15 minutes and wrote what she had seen and done..I also wanted us to read so Carolyn had given me a book which was in English and Spanish and we took turns reading

me in Spanish and Paola in English…then she helped roll the dice

as I retained my backgammon crown over Sara and by 11pm someone was ready to call it a night!!!

So what an eventful day and one I had been looking forward to for years…again wish my other little kid could have been with us……….it was a day I am sure Paola will remember ….thanks Sara for so good with the kid!!!

There is no Internet at the casita  here but the owner told us that there is a chance they may connect tomorrow so I hope so…..I will post this when I get to a Cyber café so until then Yashi Koshi and sweet dreams to a certain lady on Cinco d Mayo!!!!
