Saturday 25th December 2010…Feliz Navidad!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of my readers a wonderful, happy, safe and healthy Holiday Season and that today is a special day of celebration for you!!!

Yesterday was again another lovely sunny day which started for me with two hours of tennis in the morning…I have really enjoyed playing again it has opened up a new avenue of friends and good exercise and fun!!

Sara and I then spent a couple of hours doing a big shop….I have some very special Angel friends who kindly donated some money for Casa Hogar and I am using some of that to provide cookies and a special apple punch for the party at Casa Hogar today..so a big shop was needed and Sara has kindly offered to make the punch…so we got all the supplies and cookies needed.

We then went to the RV park where they were having a pot luck open house and we were invited…

It was a nice couple of hours to meet some of the people I had met in previous years and just to mingle..

After coming home and getting a quick bite to eat it was back to the main square to take in all the festivities

….the square was a hive of activity, bright lights and happy smiling people..

Again I had been given some lovely little toy cars and baby dolls by friends and I took a lot of these in a bag and it was a delight to see the faces of some of the street kids who received one as we passed them by!!

I thought the big light show on the main church was going to happening again tonight and in fact I had told a few people at the RV park about it and we saw them in the square but they announced the light show would not be happening, so that was a bit of a let down…but I am hoping they show it again so Sara can see it.

We then attended the 10pm mass at the main church, this was a first for me and it was a very moving and interesting 90 minutes!!!

There was not an empty seat in the church and it was a beautiful way to spend Christmas Eve…we didn’t get home till almost midnight when we did a few little gift exchanges!!!

It is now 9am and again lovely and sunny and we are off in a couple of hours to spend the afternoon at Casa Hogar……this is going to be a special day….Blessings to all !!!

Thursday 23rd December 2010….a really lazy day!!!

Well a totally lazy day!!!

Sara arrived about 8am this morning after an all night flight and it was good to see her smiling face…she had a few hours sleep and then in the afternoon my grooming session began..I was in desperate need of a hair cut so here are two horrid photos

I do not take good photos I don’t know how to pose!!!

We just sat out in the sun and enjoyed doing nothing.

Sara then treated me to supper and we went back to the theatre where I went last night to see this show

This was a really great concert!!!

All the musicians were very talented and the packed house enjoyed a wonderful Christmas concert!!!

Back to my busy days tomorrow…

Wednesday 22nd December 2010…a busy day

Starting with two hours of tennis this morning then rushing home for a shower and then straight to poker where I again donated 100 pesos but had a great time…back home again and showered and ate and back out into town to a local restaurant where the girls from Casa Hogar were performing again…

They really did put on a good show…I then took Paola and Daniela to the big theatre in town for this show…

The show was in Spanish and it was well acted and their voices were awesome…the girls really enjoyed themselves…

It was a good show and a late night for the girls I didn’t get them back till 10.15pm but one of the Madres was there to meet us and the girls were again exceptionally well behaved….

So ends another busy but good day…it will soon be 7am when Sara is due to arrive…my friend Jaime has gone to Leon airport to pick her up!!!

Tuesday 21st December 2010…Happy Solstice!

S I did the blog but could not get it to post so sorry for the extra posts and I hope this comes through..

I did stay up last evening until 2am this morning and witnessed the amazing eclipse on the Solstice eve and this is one of those times when I wish I had the BIG camera!!

My photos are really not great…

Anyway it was worth watching even though I was a little tired but still cleaned up fairly well don’t you think??

Friends Karen and Rob invited me to their local church kids concert and it was a pleasure to be able to attend and watch these children perform really well they had obviously been well trained…

Thanks I enjoyed the concert!!

Sara is arriving in SMA on Thursday for a few weeks to study Spanish and visit with the girls so I went and got some flowers for the casa…

A beautiful bouquet for less than ten dollars!!!

When I got home Rafael was there he comes and works in the gardens a couple of times a week and this time he had his 5 year old son Rafael Junior with him!!

Didn’t stay home long before I was back to town to a local hotel where the Rotary Club holds their meetings  andtoday a group of girls from Casar Hogar including Paola and Daniela were performing a small Christmas Concert

This was another great concert especially considering only a few weeks ago the girls had no leader or teacher Robin put the word out and these three talented and lovely women offered their time and I was very proud to see the first concert..it was a lovely start to the Holiday season!!

Well I suppose you all know by now that it is time to watch another hockey game!!!!

Tuesday 21st December 2010….Happy Solstice!!!!!!!

Well I did manage to stay up till 2am to watch the pretty impressive eclipse on the Solstice eve….it was a magnificent sight and this is one of the times when I wish I had the BIG camera….my shots just really don’t do anything.

I started my busy day by getting cleaned up

Maybe a 4 out of 10??

I had been invited by friends Karen and Rob to attend a Christmas concert this morning at the Church where they spend time teaching the children English..

The concert was great and it was obvious the kids had been well prepared and they put on a wonderful start to the Holiday season…

Sara is coming down on Thursday for a few weeks to do some serious Spanish learning and also spend time with the girls…so I went to the market to buy some flowers

A beautiful arrangement for under ten dollars!!!

Back at the house Rafael was there he comes a couple of times a week and works on the grounds today he brought his 5 year old son with him, Rafael Junior!!!!

At 12.30pm I went to a local hotel where the Rotary Club hold their meetings and some of the girls from Casa Hogar were performing singing carols.

The girls were in need of a choir director and when Robin put the word out three talented ladies came forward donating their time and expertise and the outcome was a fabulous concert!!!!!

I was very proud of all the girls and their teachers!!

So it was a busy and fun day….don’t have to tell you that I am getting ready to watch a hockey game!!!
