Friday 8th June 2012….Janet’s Day!!!

It rained a bit during the night but I was warm and cozy inside Tilley and slept till 5am again woke up and went back to sleep and got up at 7am and walked around the campground.  This is a huge site with many facilities and activities for the kids, very clean and good restrooms and showers and for us it is costing 16 Euros a night……1 Euro is about $1.60 cents!!!

Every 10 years this event happens

you could Google it to read all about it but it is an International theme type park centering on Horticulture and Janet has always wanted to visit so today we did..it is about 6 miles from the campground so we went in the car…it was a little expensive 30 Euros each but well worth it…sit back and enjoy Floriade!!!

We spent 9 hours here and saw just about everything it was very different and interesting and Janet really enjoyed her day!!

Back at the camp ground Janet rustled up yet another lovely meal and scrabble time!!!!

Thursday 7th June 2012……..my first time in Belgium!!!!

I had a really good sleep woke up about 5am and then dozed back off till 7.30am….

We had breakfast and checked out and drove into a huge parking lot where we left the car and Stella and we  walked into the small town and took the bus into Bruges……enjoy our tour around the city!!!!

The beautiful cathedral!!!

The down town core was very clean and the architecture  pleasing to the eye!!

The canal district is charming!!!

Three things Belgium is famous for…

Truffles

Waffles!!

The main means of transportation!!!

The third famous thing!!!

We caught the bus back to the car and were ready to hit the road again by 2pm…it was neat to see the city and it was very beautiful!!!!

Janet and Malc want to go to a huge Theme park tomorrow that is famous for it’s gardens and it is only open every ten years so he found a campsite close to there….it was about a 2 hour drive and we crossed borders again and now in

We had a little trouble finding the camp site but eventually arrived and I set up Tilley the tent!!!

it is a neat tent the poles are already attached which makes set up quite easy….

Just as we had finished the rains came down for almost an hour…Janet cooked another great meal and now we are settling down for the first game of scrabble!!!

Well it was a good game and here is the winner!!!

Sorry Malc do not know what happened here!!!!!!!

Wednesday 6th June 2012…………off we go!!!!

Ready to leave by 9am…Stella all packed!!!!

I was the back seat navigator!!!

It was a six hour drive down to

with one stop for lunch!!

We had a reservation on the ferry

The ferry was quite a bit bigger than the ferries going to Vancouver Island the crossing was 90 minutes and the cost was 85 pounds!!!

Enjoy the white cliffs of Dover!!!

We arrived at Calais, France about 7pm!!

Then drove about 30 miles before we passed into

Belgium!!!

I must praise my Brother for not only the great driving skills but also he has researched most of the camp sites we are going to be using…it was getting a bit dark when we arrived at the campground in Jabbeke about 8 miles outside of Bruges!!!

Check out my sleeping home for the month the green tent and of course she has to have a name….Tilley the tent!!!!!!!

Janet is a star in the kitchen she has kept us so well fed thank you!!!

By the time we ate, showered it was midnight and ready for bed.

Tuesday 5th June 2012……on the road again!!!!

Really an easy morning of sorting and getting ready and then whilst Janet slaved over cooking, cleaning and packing the three boys went for a game of golf, pitch and put.

Before we go any further some back ground information on my Big Brother….Malc has been a member of a prestigious golf club for many years and repeatedly e mails me to tell me how well he is playing, which little club Championship he won and his nick name is Malcolm down the middle(you can guess why).

So before we leave he asks Andy and me what clubs we want to take with us and I ask for a 3 iron and a putter.  Malc tells me he doesn’t have a 3 iron but can give me a 5 iron and off we go to the course.  At this juncture you should also know that the last time I played golf was 2 years ago at this same course.

I am informed of the new scoring rules and let the competition begin…. and what a field 3 Pearson boys who all have a reputation for winning is the thing!!!!!

My T shot went straight but high and not very far…Malc and Andy did OK and the next hole my T shot went high and not very far, my third shot went high and not very far…do you detect a pattern here???

Anyway we are at the 15th T off with Malc way ahead in the points race when I examine my club more closely and see it is in fact not a 5 iron but a sand wedge!!!!!!! There after called a sandwich!!!

Well then the confrontation began and I accused him of deliberately setting me up and and that the game should be reviewed and an independent judge brought in…..it was decided that we would forget about the previous scores and at the final and 18th hole it would winner takes all.

Andy finished with 4 on the final hole and Tiger Pearson and myself had 3…so off we go to a sudden death play off…where modesty forbids me from telling you who won!!!!!!

JUST CHECK OUT WHO IS HOLDING THE TROPHY!!!!!!

Came home to a great supper and then it was off to the rugby pitch!!!

My nephew Mark, Claire and their son Tom had just got back from holidays and Tom was playing Rugby!!!

Tom is No.3…

Yet another in the long line of Pearson super stars!!!!!

Sam and Darren and Andy and Claire and Mark and Tom all came over to the house for a visit and after they had left final preparations were made and we are all set for a departure time of 9am tomorrow!!!

We drive down to Dover

and take the ferry across to Calais in France

and then we drive about 40 miles to our first stop Bruges in Belgium!!

The plan is to spend the day in Bruges before heading into Holland late Thursday!!

 

My Kings won yet another hockey game and are now only one game away from their first Stanley cup Trophy…GO KINGS!!!
