We parked and took a bus into the city and enjoyed walking around the quaint down town...
The only way I can think of to describe the Cathedral is majestic and magnificent!!!!
Apparently there was a huge fire here about 15 years ago but all the restaorations have been completed!!!
Janet and Sam took off and do what girls do best.....shop....whilst Malc and I went on a walking tour ...
and then here..
Malc has been here before but i had not and I really enjoyed the exhibits which were in excellent condition....the below phots are special because our Dad after he left school went and worked on the railways he was a fireman responcible for loaded the coal into the boilers on the steam trains...
Malc is standing where we think dad spent many hours
and that is where he used to load the coal...after we think about a year he left and then went into the Insurance business where he did really well for himself!!!
Interesting.....
They had a simulation of the record ride and we went in it was really cool!!!
I liked this one...
It was really interesting seeing the stages of the railways!!!
This one traveled at over 200 mph......
Malc and I enjoyed seeing this one
It is the guard's van because our Grand Dad Pearson who incidentally was one of the very nicest kindest sweetest man you could ever meet spent his working life on the Railways as a Guard and in fact where they lived at the bottom of his yard the railway came past and we as kids would often wave to him as he came by when he was working on the trains!!!!
What a great and interesting and very well laid out Museum!!!
There are ruins everywhere....
On the way home all the excitement of the day was way too much for me.....
Malc went off to his Rotary dinner and we went to the world's biggest fish and chip restaurant....
Do you think I am enjoying myself???
Yashi Kochi!!!!
