Welcome to the 2008 Journey of a lifetime blog; hope everyone had a wonderful New Year’s Eve.
I spent a lovely evening with a delightful group of people exchanging funny stories and after seeing in the New Year I was back home at about 12.30am and had a good sleep. At the party I did overdo things a little and had three orange juices but my hangover is only slight!!
A sad state of affairs I know but I did start the New Year off by doing my laundry this morning and doing small chores for Ramona. Before I knew it afternoon was here and I packed up and went to the same spot on the beach as yesterday.
I went for a long walk I think around 4 miles, from my chair all the way to Playa Bruja in the photos I try to show the way to the Playa from my chair it is the little mountain sticking into the water.
On the way there I passed the whole gamut of sights, white skinned tourists who obviously had just arrived, seasoned dark vets, young and old alike and plenty of Mexicans with their lovely children enjoying the festivities. I am still awaiting the first crying child or the first scolding of a child by a parent!!
There are horses available for rides on the beach and I did think about this for maybe one and a half seconds then the vibrant memories of certain parts of my anatomy being shaken and rattled on my last horse ride in Costa Rica brought me to my senses immediately and I decided against this form of torture!!
Enjoyed the afternoon, some reading, some eating, some sun bathing and lots of people watching. Back to the park for a shower, supper and now already 8pm, time goes by fast. Tonight I am going to settle down and do some trip planning.
I was scheduled to leave tomorrow but found out that Mazatlan baseball team is in the National championship and there is a game tomorrow night. Did not want to miss this so I have booked an extra night and now will leave on Thursday morning instead.
This is really good having no set schedule, except to be back in Nanaimo for 23rd April, because I can change my plans anytime and I cannot get lost because I don’t know where I am going.
Have a great evening and my first Pura Vida of 2008
