Saturday 25th June 2011………..Day two done!!

Had a great sleep and took the opportunity to have a shower in Chris’s casa and was on the road by 8am after my second great couch surfing experience!!!

The first stop was down town Bellingham where I gassed up..

When I am on the road I use this great website called gasbuddy.com   it shows you the price of gas in every town in the USA and Canada so I choose the cities I am going through and find the cheapest price a good thing for me with the amount that Ramona drinks…the price above was way cheaper than anything else in Bellingham in fact it is the cheapest anywhere I have seen in 2 days!!

On the main street came across this accident!!

I left on the Interstate for about 20 miles and then got on to the secondary roads which I much prefer..check out the scenery changes as I head east…

I came across this small farmers market

and couldn’t resist

the owner told me they were picked about 45 minutes before I bought them!!

The Grand Coulee dam is the third highest hydropower producer in the world!!

After 315 miles I found this quiet safe spot in the town of Davenport still in Washington State!!

I am picking up someone’s Wi fi..had supper and now going to watch True Grit which I rented from the Red Box dispenser in Bellingham for a dollar it better be a good movie or Ross you will be hearing from me!!!

I just received an e mail from my friends Terri and Mike Church, they are the author’s of all the great RV books and I see them each year in San Miguel…the e mail said  ..”Les I am sure we just passed you going in the opposite direction in the town of Wilbur about 6pm”..well that was me what a small world I wished we could have stopped and spent the evening together!!!!

My friend in Nanaimo Mary is not feeling great and I want to wish her my best wishes she loves hummingbirds and I brought her this feeder back in April and she sent me this photo today, blessings to you Mary.

Looks like the birds like it!!

So two days done and so far everything is going so well…will post tomorrow if I can,,,have a great Sunday!!

Friday 24th June 2011….and so it begins!!!!

So everything, I think, is packed and goodbyes said and Heather made me a lovely breakfast, said good bye to the boys and Heather and the journey starts.

It would be remiss of me if I didn’t publicly thank Heather and Kirby and the boys for the warm , wonderful and loving kindness they continue to show to me and the knowledge that their casa is my casa is a heart warming thought…thank you so much!!!!

My first stop was the shop where Troy was giving Ramona a small makeover!!!

The Muchas Gracias  decal I had removed and a new one put on but higher up as the scooter obstructed the other one!!

It only took Troy about 30 minutes to do everything and I think Ramona looks fantastic!!

Then it was onto the ferry terminal where they had a discount fare offered I saved over 35 dollars!!!

I am parked waiting in line with my rear door open and I hear a voice saying “Hi Les”..so I stepped out and met for the first time Pat and Darrell who live in Campbell River on the Island here …. they follow my blog and recognized Ramona…small world!!!!!!

We had a good chat and who knows may meet them again on the road some where else on these travels!!!

The ferry left on time and the sun peaked a couple of times…

It was about a 45 minute drive to Bellingham and to the home of my Couch surfing host…..with good directions I found the house which is in a great family neighbourhood and my charming host Chris was waiting for me and after quick introductions Chris took me with her dog, Luna, down to the beach..

It really was a beautiful walk we then drove a few miles to Lake Padden and walked the nearly 3 miles around the lake…it was spectacular!!!

It really was a lovely evening and Chris is delightful, interesting and very kind!!

So here I am in Ramona tea in hand and thinking back to what a great start I have had for day one!!!!

Thursday 23rd June 2011…..The last Supper!!!

Well rain this morning for my last day but it did clear up somewhat later on…..these deer were around this morning

The best deer photo is this one taken by Heather a couple of weeks ago on the golf course!!!

So spent the morning doing final preps and loading Bonita….saying goodbye to great friends and then tonight we celebrated Ben’s 19th Birthday!!

We went out to a nice restaurant and Ben forgot his ID so he couldn’t order a beer so he got this instead!!!

It was a really great meal and thanks to the whole family for making me feel so welcome and all that you do for me and the privilege of staying in your beautiful home!!

If was a great evening and a lovely last night for me.

The decals for Ramona which I was supposed to have installed today didn’t happen as there were technical problems so on the way to the ferry terminal in the morning I will stop and get them done.

So here it is my last sleep…….

My first stop is at a couch surfer’s home in Bellingham and I look forward to that as always when I am on the road I will try to post when I can…so please come along with my as this journey continues!!!

Wednesday 22nd June 2011….almost ready!!

Another beautiful day and spent the morning washing Ramona and Bonita and then ……..Ramona had a treat Stevie came over to wax her!!!  Don’t these kids ever learn not to bet against me…Stevie lost a bet on the last hockey game and he his paying penance!!!

Stevie you did a great job and I was proud of you when I offered you a few dollars and you said no thanks a bet is a bet!!!

So I think just a few more little jobs and ready to roll!!!

Took Annie out shopping for a while this afternoon can you spot her??

Then it was off to poker for the last time for me for a long while…

I guess the lack of chips tells you how my night went!!!!
