Thursday 13th June 2013…big date night!!!!

First of all the power was of late last night so the delay in this blog!!!

OK enough already!!!!!

Another heavy rainstorm on Wednesday evening so the tennis was cancelled again yesterday morning……so took advantage of that to do a big canyon hike about 16 km and very enjoyable hope you like the photos!!!

I would say the first 3 km are up a steep hill so a good workout..

It was a great hike and came home and iced the knee, showered and then then cleaned up for my big date!!!!!

Today is Paola’s 12th Birthday!!!!

I picked her up and she looked lovely and I had planned to take her out for dinner but she wanted to go biking first so we did…..this is taken outside Linda and Guy’s casa!!!

After she had finished biking she asked me if she could take the bike and keep it at her house…I had thought about doing this a few months ago but decided against it but it was her Birthday she she is doing so great I said yes…so we loaded it up and went into town to my favorite restaurant Hecho's for supper.

She had a few gifts to open!!

I had brought some of my old family photos to show Paola and she was so cute she asked me if she could have one of me in my Policeman’s uniform!!!!

Then I had arranged for a surprise dessert for her!!!!

and sang Happy Birthday!!!

Dropped Paola and her bike at home and she was so happy what a special day and to see her having fun.

I then went to St.Paul’s Church

for the opening season of play readers…this is the best value in town every two weeks they do a play reading and it only cost 20 pesos..this play was by the famous Canadian playwright Norm Foster and it was so funny..if you ever get a chance to see any of his productions do so you will not be dis appointed!!!!

Wednesday 12th June 2013……Yea hockey is back!!!

Had an easy morning and then went to pick up Paola we just messed around about town doing some chores and she is so happy these days a joy to be around…..then it was off to poker where I continued my winning ways raking in 170 pesos and from there home to do some work around the house, showered, had a nice meal and now about ……..you got it… to watch hockey……..  the first game of the Stanley Cup final Blackhawks versus Bruins I cannot decide who to cheer for so I am going to remain neutral.

Some more sage advice!!!

 

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year,
And every year Morris would say,
'Esther,I'd like to ride in that helicopter.'
Esther always replied,
'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars,
And fifty dollars is fifty dollars'
One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said,
'Esther, I'm 85 years old.
If I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.'
To this, Esther replied,
'Morris that helicopter ride is fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars.'
The pilot overheard the couple and said,
'Folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and don't say a word I won't charge you a penny!
But if you say one word it's fifty dollars.'
Morris and Esther agreed and up they went.
The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuver's, but not a word was heard.
He did his daredevil tricks over and over again,
But still not a word.
When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said,
'By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't.
I'm impressed!'

Morris replied,
'Well, to tell you the truth,
I almost said something when Esther fell out,
But you know,
fifty dollars is fifty dollars!'

Tuesday 11th June 2013……..big hike!!

Well here is a first tennis was cancelled this morning because the courts are still wet from the big storm last night..so I went back to bed and slept till noon…KIDDING!!!!!

After breakfast decided it was a good day for the big hike so I packed up and and parked in the grocery store and off I went.

It was a beautiful day and the scenery really nice..saw lots of animals…

I wanted to cross the small river here but because of all the rain it was swollen so I stayed on this side

It really is so nice the trails run by the river and the farmer’s fields…

This is where I stopped for lunch

Soon after this I came out on the main highway

and then walked back to Little Bluey I reckon I walked about 22 km with a light back pack it was a great workout and as always gives me a chance to listen to my music and also to do lots of thinking and making plans.

Later on I took Little Bluey to the Spa for the full treatment!!!

Hard to beat a full wash and clean inside and out for 5 pesos!!!!

So tonight the agenda is a long hot soak, a nice meal and some TV….

Three  men married wives from different countries.

The first man married a woman from China. He told her that she was to do their
dishes and house cleaning. It took a couple of days, but on the third
day, he came home to see a clean house and dishes washed and put away.
The second man married a woman from Costa Rica. He told his wife
that she was to do all the cleaning, dishes and the cooking. The
first day he didn't see any results, but the next day he saw it was
better. By the third day, he saw his house was clean, the dishes were
done and there was a huge dinner on the table.
The third man married a girl from Canada. He asked her to keep
the house cleaned, dishes washed, lawn mowed, laundry washed, and hot
meals on the table three times a day. He said the first day he didn't
see anything, the second day he didn't see anything but by the third
day, some of the swelling had gone down and he could see a little out
of his left eye, and his arm was healed enough that he could fix
himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher.

Monday 10th June 2013…there are only so many times you can sort your sock and underwear drawer!!!!

No hockey, tennis or soccer to today…..I may have to resort to watching basketball!!!

Went to pick up Paola at 10 am this morning and took her back to the dentist to have the last tooth pulled to make way for her new molars coming through…the Dentist is so caring and gentle with Paola and the procedure was over in quick time and the cost 100 pesos about 8 dollars…..afterwards we went for breakfast and bought some fruit for her to take home to her Mum…..she has changed so much these last few weeks and I so enjoy my time with her….

Did some errands in town this afternoon and picked up some more frozen meals that Margaret has made for me they are very tasty and I am enjoying good home cooked comfort food.

We seem to be in a weather pattern where it is beautiful sunny and warm during the day and the around dusk the winds pick up and the storm clouds come in and it rains, happened again tonight…..

This was my transportation before Ramona and this was my first winter away 2006 and I could not wait to get out of snowy Nanaimo!!

In 2007 I spent a month volunteering at a Hospice for motorhome persons in Livingston Texas…..it was great experience loved every day and by the end I was walking around saying…”Ya all show me the love””” in my English/Texan accent.

Anderson earns an exemption into the 2013 Canadian Junior Boys Championship

Swift Current, Sask.(Golf Canada) – Zach Anderson won the junior boys division, while Jaclyn Lee took home the junior girls title at the CN Future Links Prairie Championship at Elmwood Golf and Country Club in Swift Current, Sask.

Zach Anderson, 16, of Nanaimo, B.C., captured the junior boys title after firing an impressive 4-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 2-under 208 for the tournament. Anderson, who also won the 2012 CN Future Links Pacific Championship at Morningstar Championship Golf Course in Parksville, B.C., had an eagle, four birdies and a double bogey on the day.

“It felt good to win this event especially considering how I played at the CN Future Links Pacific Championship earlier this year,” said Anderson. “I didn’t have the best day yesterday so I had to play really hard to come back.”

With the win, Anderson earns an exemption into the 2013 Canadian Junior Boys Championship at Timberwolf Golf Club in Garson, Ont., July 30-August 2.

“I just plan on practicing a lot, working with my coach, and just grinding it out until the Championship.” Anderson continued.

Team Canada Development Squad member Matt Williams, 17, of Calgary finished one stroke behind Anderson to finish in solo second after a final round 2-under 68 to finish at 1-under 209 for the tournament. Williams was also the 2012 CN Future Links Ontario Champion.

2013 CN Future Links Ontario Champion, Carter Simon, 16, of Sutton, Ont., finished in solo third after posting a 1-over 71 to finish at 1-over 211 for the tournament.

Alex Park, 15, of Vancouver, and Patrick Murphy, 16, of Crossfield, Alta., finished tied for fourth at 2-over 212. Park carded a final round 2-under 68, while Murphy posted a final round 1-under 69.

Logan Yanick, 16, of Courtenay, B.C., finished in solo sixth after a final round 5-over 75 to earn the final exemption of the championship into the 2013 Canadian Junior Boys Championship.
