I picked up Paola this morning and we just messed around town doing some shopping and she is all smiles…it is really so joyful to see the change in her..she told me she likes her new place where they are staying we then bought some fruit for her to take home..I am seeing her again Wednesday when I am taking her to the dentist.

Had a couple of small meetings to attend this afternoon and did some errands for my friend Rita

I wonder if anyone can guess what I am going to do tonight?????

Sunday 2nd June 2013….OOOPPPSSS!

My good friend Paula quickly pointed out to me that yesterday’s photo of me looking drop dead gorgeous in the Tam o Shanter was not in fact taken in Scotland last year but with Paula and Jerry in Nova Scotia in 2011….my only excuse is since I turned 65 the memory is going please accept my apologies!!!!

Today’s memory lane trip…

A day I shall never forget in Greece last year…to read the story if you go to the archives for  19th July 2012….worth a read!!!

Tis one always makes me smile  about 4 years ago in Corfu with Janet and Malc and their skipper of a daughter Sam…..we had rented a small motor boat and Sam begged me to let her drive so here she is!!!!!

Sunday morning was laundry day, poached eggs for breakfast and on the roof top with tea and reading an old newspaper.

At noon it was time for the big hike I still had not got my sign from the pottery store so I broke down and drove out there in Little Bluey for the fifth time but it was ready..hope you like it!!!!

I then parked the car in the local gas station and set out on foot for

Atotonilco…this is the site of the World Heritage church!!

The Sanctuary, officially called the “Santuario de Dios y de la Patria” (Sanctuary of God and Country),^[2] but is better known as the Sanctuary of Jesús Nazareno de Atotonilco.^[3] It is located in the small, rural community of Atotonilco, which had a population in 2005 of 597. Today, this community is formally known as the Santuario de Atotonilco and is a World Heritage Site (2008) along with the historic center of San Miguel de Allende.^[4] Atotonilco is located fourteen km outside the town of San Miguel de Allende in an area that is a combination of dry grassland and desert studded with thistles, sweet acacia and mesquite trees.^[5] The appearance of the landscape has been compared to that of Jerusalem, which gives believers a connection to the Holy Land.^[6] The area also has a large number of thermal and fresh water springs. When the sanctuary was built, there were 27 fresh water springs to support gardens around the complex.^[5] Today, thermal waters still rise up from the ground only one km from the sanctuary, and another spring at the community entrance has been covered by an artificial cave and is used as a spa called Balneario La Gruta.^[7]

This sanctuary is famous for the act of self-flagellation and in fact this small procession of woman were going into the back of the church for that purpose.

I was able to climb almost to the roof

I arrived back at the car and I reckon I walked about 17km..it was fun and interesting and thought provoking!!!

 

 

Good lessons below!!!

Saturday 1st June 2013…Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits!!!!

Well I have been in SMA 8 months today the time has just flown by and I am happily settled in a most beautiful casita, Paola is doing really well and I get to see Daniela next Saturday…..I have my health and love my tennis and my hikes…many special friends and let me not forget the extra income coming in next month…I am so lucky and blessed!!!

Saturday morning can only mean one thing the best tennis of the week and this morning was no exception…really good rallies, some bad line calls)Loren I hope you are reading this!!!)..lots of laughs a fabulous way to start the day.

After tennis I went to the local Organic market and bought some veggies and some pastries and then home to ice down watch some French open tennis on TV and then at 1pm went and picked up Paola..she was all smiles but sitting about 100 yards from her house and she tells me that they have moved houses and she will show me her new house when I drop her off…we had already talked and she wanted to go to Deportiva again and bike ride…so I was in Little Bluey and had her bike in there after the tire repairs yesterday and I also packed some nice sandwiches, fruit and juice.

At Deportiva off she goes and I walk laps all around the huge complex…

I should know the name of this game but I don’t….

Before anyone comments I know Paola is not wearing her helmet this is the very first time we have forgotten to bring it….won’t happen again.

She really enjoys just riding around all the different tracks and trails and she really enjoyed her snack…when it was time to go she is also happy and she showed me where she now lives which is about a mile away from where she was before..I did not see inside.

A new feature I am adding to my blog is everyday to throw in a few photos from the archives I have been doing this blog over 7 years so I have lots to choose from here are today’s!!!!

Friday 31st May 2013…where did the month go?

Went to town this morning did some chores and picked up Paola’s bike which had a flat tire and took it to the repair shop 15 minutes and 20 pesos, yes 20 pesos, later I was on my way…… and thanks to my friend Carol who gave me info on a new hike….. I did about 15 km this afternoon …saw almost no one and very peaceful indeed!!

 

I have heard about this ranch before out in the country and with 2 clay tennis courts!!

This was not a hard hike very flat but it sure was a neat trail one I shall explore more next week.

So thank goodness the hockey games resume tomorrow….
