Saturday 13th March 2010…I have such smart friends!!!

Thanks to croft’s expert advice I was able to download straight from my card to the computer.

So these are the photos from yesterday…

Sinaloa state is the biggest producer of tomatoes in Mexico and everywhere are fields of toms and corn!!

mar12 013

We were not sure if these are tomatoes or peppers.

mar12 019

Many toll roads

mar12 014

with lots of police and military trucks.

Saturday 13th March 2010…a techie problem

This will be 2 days post in one.  I am having trouble importing the photos from my camera to the computer.  I think the cord is toast but not sure, anyway until I can or someone else can give me an answer it is going to be photo less until we get to the border and I can get a new cord.

We had a drive of 300km yesterday mainly on toll roads and with only one wrong turn but worth mentioning.  We had directions to the camp site but did make one wrong turn and we stopped on a farmers drive way to see if we could figure things out.  I saw a car pass by and about 100 yards later stop and turn around and come back to us and pulled alongside and two young men asked in perfect English if we were lost and gave us directions to the camp ground.  2 Canadian key chains later we were on our way another example of how unsafe and scary travelling in Mexico can be!!!!!

The RV park is one of the best so far, Mr.Moro’s is in a small lazy town called Las Glorias.  We have full facilities, in a field all to ourselves, the incredible beach is 50 feet away and there is a great pool and a restaurant and a small hotel.  Very clean and the beach walking is wonderful, 23 dollars per night!!!

We decided to have a day off today and stay here two nights so Sara went for a huge long beach walk and I read and relaxed.  I then went for my run and then we made plans for the next few days.

Tomorrow will be a long driving day maybe 450km to another beach town called San Carlos where we will stay two nights and then the next day head for the border.

Tonight we are going to eat in the restaurant…..all is well in Mexico!!!

Thursday 11th March 2010…..more miles north!!

We packed up and were on the road by 10am.  Just outside Mazatlan we stopped at a big grocery store and replenished supplies then drove for another hour to the RV park Celestino, Sinaloa.  We stayed here for one night on the way down in November.

It is a nice park very close to the ocean full facilities and only 100 pesos a night.

mar11 006

Again we had a long beach walk and watched a pretty nice sunset.

mar11 013

mar11 016

Now you need to be sitting down for this next photo and parental guidance is advised!!!!

mar11 017

Yes it is true Sara is cooking!!!!!!!!

We had another great day and now to the scrabble!!!!!!

Wednesday 10th March 2010…… a step further north!!

First I must come clean and confess that the photo of the Yellow Fin Tuna I am holding in my post of a few days ago was not caught by my good self……were walking along the beach and a commercial fisherman had caught it,  I was just fooling, don’t anyone tell Frank!!!!!!

We had a great sleep and the surf did not keep us awake.  Sara and I have a system in place sort of a working agreement……I work and she agrees!!!!!   Here is how I spend the mornings after I have made her coffee and breakfast!!

mar10 001

This is how Sara spends her mornings….

mar10 017

Our first stop this morning was in a tiny town called Matanchen which is very famous for its banana bread.  We went to this stall

mar10 005

and the owner told us the bread was still in the oven and to come back in 25 minutes.  I must thank Sara because I wanted to go but she wanted to stay and wait.

mar10 006 The ovens and the final product and I am so glad we waited!!!

mar10 007

Two of the best loaves I have tasted and the cost for both 50 pesos, about 4 dollars!!!

Back at Ramona we couldn’t wait to sample the hot bread!!

mar10 008

We drove about 200 km today first on roads like this

mar10 009

then on toll roads till we arrived at today's destination a large RV park just outside a town called Teacapan in the State of Sinaloa.

Again we are right on the ocean

mar10 012

mar10 015

mar10 011

The drive to the park was on a dusty lane and on either side were fields with workers harvesting tomatoes some of the workers had their children with them and we stopped and gave the kids candy, the smiles were worth the stop!!

mar10 010

Sara and I had a great 2 hour walk along the beach in the sun before it turned a little cloudy.

mar10 021

mar10 018

Our days are enjoyable as we move gradually closer to the border…..the same cannot be said of the evenings!!!!!  I think in future just assume that Sara wins the card games, the dice games,  the scrabble games, the backgammon games……if by some fluke or the right alignment of the stars I eke out a victory you will know!!!!

Tuesday 9th March 2010…..a great location!!

After a great breakfast with Gail, Val, Pat and Larry we left Rincon about 10.30am and drove about 80 km to this very lovely RV park in San Blas which is located right on the ocean.

mar9 005

mar9 009

After we were set up Sara and I went for a  long walk on the beach.

mar9 007

Then it was time for some reading and relaxing before watching the beautiful sunset.

mar9 011

mar9 013

The next two photos were taken about 40 minutes apart!!

mar9 015

mar9 019

mar9 025

mar9 027

It is a very idyllic location here and we will sleep with the sounds of the surf tonight.

There are only 4 other rigs here and the cost is 15 dollars.

I bought a copy of the Oscar wining movie Hurt Locker so that will be the pre “me getting thrashed again at scrabble” entertainment.

Tomorrow will be a long day of driving but there has been some police incidents in Mazatlan and we have both agreed to by pass the city and stay at a park that we stayed on the way down.

Pura Vida!!

Monday 8th March 2010….little road trip!!

Today 6 of us hired a taxi and driver and went on a road trip to some of the smaller towns.  The first stop was down a winding track and through a police barricade onto this small and deserted beach.

mar8 001

mar8 002

Then into a small town to buy chicken for lunch, of course I had to cook it!!!!

mar8 007

Then off to the hot springs!!!

mar8 010

mar8 011

Thanks to Gail and Anna we all had a wonderful lunch here and the springs were warm and refreshing.

The next stop was a little beach town called Chacala.

mar8 013

This is the typical sleepy Mexican beach town!!

mar8 015

mar8 021

mar8 022

This was sure a beautiful little town.  Sara and I took a walk

mar8 020

and when we came back to the palapa the rest of the group were being entertained by this Mariachi Band.

mar8 023

They were a bit short on vocals so Pancho Pearson lent a voice!!!!

mar8 025

It was a very nice day out and thanks to Larry for arranging everything.

Tonight before Sara and I went out for supper we checked out the great sunset!!

mar8 029

mar8 028

So ends a fabulous day, well almost fabulous, Sara annihilated me again in scrabble and Trivial pursuit…..

We are leaving in the morning and as yet I don’t have a destination in mind and may be without Internet so I shall post when I can……..best wishes to all my readers!!
