Thursday 29th September 2011……countdown!!! 18 hours to go!!

Can you tell I am excited??

It was only going to be a short driving day and I had some chores to do and the first one was to find a Laundromat which I did find in the next town and got everything cleaned…next stop was Wal-Mart to buy a few last minute things and then time for breakfast!!

Then it was getting all my stuff ready to pack so that took a while trying not to forget anything…and finally back on the road again and around 4pm I pulled into Kath and Glenn’s beautiful lake front home!!!

Kath and Glenn are a wonderful couple and I met their children, the adorable Lilly, Miles the comedian and Nicco my I Touch teacher!!!!

We sat and got to know one another, had a lovely supper and then  I had my lesson on the I Touch and just generally had a nice home evening….

Ramona is settled for the week and thanks to Kath and Glenn I was able to empty my fridge and freezer and store the food stuff in their freezer and turned of my fridge and defrosted it which it needed and now it can be left off whilst I am gone.

Glenn loaned me a suitcase so I am starting to pack and getting last minute stuff done.

I have to be at the Cruise Terminal at 2pm for a 4pm departure so Glenn will drop me off at the train station tomorrow and I will find my way to the cruise terminal…so there you have it up to date.

As I mentioned yesterday I shall probably not post till I get back so there will be lots of reading for you then……Blessings to everyone Les

Thursday 29th September 2011…….ONE MORE SLEEP!!!!!

From Wikipedia

Bermuda (officially, the Bermuda's or Somers Isles or ""Iain's Island"") is a British overseas territory in the North Atlantic Ocean. Located off the east coast of the United States, its nearest landmass is Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, about 1,030 kilometres (640 mi) to the west-northwest. It is about 1,373 kilometres (853 mi) south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and 1,770 kilometres (1,100 mi) northeast of Miami, Florida. Its capital city is Hamilton.

Bermuda was discovered in 1505 by Spanish navigator Juan de Bermúdez (who claimed to find the island inhabited only by pigs) after whom the islands are named, who claimed it for the Spanish Empire. Unoccupied, the island was settled by England in 1609, making it the oldest and most populous remaining British overseas territory. Its first capital, St George's, was established in 1612 and is the oldest continuously inhabited English town in the Americas.[3]

Bermuda has an affluent economy, with off-shore finance as its largest sector followed by tourism.[3][4] In 2005, Bermuda was once even claimed to have the world's highest GDP per capita, yet these statistics are hard to verify as Bermuda is not classified as a country but rather as a territory of the U.K. It has a subtropical climate.[5] Bermuda makes up the easternmost point of the so-called "Bermuda Triangle," a region of sea in which a number of aircraft and surface vessels have allegedly disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Up bright and early at 7am and got ready to walk to the train station just a few minutes away…I got permission for Ramona to stay here for the day

sep28 002

The Station is the start of the line so it wasn’t busy

sep28 004

sep28 006

but within a few stops all the seats were occupied…..I just love being a senior even though I don’t think I should have got the senior rate here not being a card holder but the lady told me I had a nice smile and gave me the $7.75 ticket…which is a return ticket..so about 65 miles for that price is a steal…glad I had those teeth done!!!!

sep28 009

After fighting the crowds here I was in down town Boston I had done some research and knew I wanted to find the Freedom Trail

sep28 015

sep28 076

sep28 083

sep28 086

It was already 4pm and time to head back to the train station but much too far to walk so off I went into the subway and for a couple of dollars found myself the right tube to get back to the train and then a 40 minute wait and then the train home.

I arrived back at Ramona at 7pm tired but the day was a special one.

I drove about 20 miles to a Wal-Mart and a MacDonald's where I am posting this from and them back for a cup of tea and a movie.

Tomorrow I move to Glenn’s house, a friend I haven’t met yet but who is so kindly letting me keep Ramona in his yard whilst I am away…so the plan is as follows!!!

I leave on the train from Glenn;s house on Friday morning to the Cruise Terminal and we set sail at 5pm Friday afternoon…Saturday at sea and arrive in Bermuda at 11am Sunday morning….we leave Bermuda at 6pm on Tuesday evening and back into Boston at 8am Friday morning!!!

This is going to be a really memorable week for me…..I will try to post when I can but I think the Internet is not reliable on board so if you don’t hear from me for a while don’t worry I shall be soaking up pink sands and warming oceans!!!!!

Blessings!!!

Tuesday 27th September 2011…another State one I cannot spell!!!

Had a lovely breakfast and enjoyed sitting outside reading my paper as the sun was out and in full force……I am only in New Hampshire for another few miles and I wanted to take advantage of the no sales tax so did some more shopping including a new pair of tennis shoes for all those games I intend to play in San Miguel and also a bottle of Grapefruit seed extract…this is what I use in Mexico to put in the water to clean veggies and purify everything….in Canada the same bottle is 24 dollars plus tax today I paid 14 dollars no tax!!

I think I bought everything on my list and now headed into this State…

sep27 001

Glad they have signs I could never spell it!!!

sep27 008

I did some planning and headed for the town of Newburyport..

Map picture

from here tomorrow I can take the train into Boston spend the day there walking around the city and then get the train back late afternoon…I have found a place to park for the night and also got permission to leave Ramona in the parking lot whilst I am in the city…..it is the courthouse and all should be well.

In the afternoon I walked about 20 blocks into down town and the waterfront

So now in the town library sending this and then off to park for the night and the usual tea and movie…

See I can do a post without mentioning the cruise!!!  Well almost!!

I did forget to mention that I went into the local branch of TD bank, which is where I do my banking in Canada and met this wonderful friendly bank supervisor who helped me get some US dollars from my account, she also told me I had lovely teeth!!!!  But I digress…she also let me use the phone to call Visa because I know I have enough points on my account for the cruise and sure enough I have more than enough points so my account has been credited the whole $510 dollars so now the cruise is…….yes ……I know……free!!

Have a great evening blessings Les
