Thursday 31 st December 2020...finally we say good bye

The last day of what has been a most horrific, sad and emotional year..........

I saw Dr.Rangel this morning and he was very pleased with my progress.....he drained some fluid off my knee and injected a gel like formula into the joint.

He told me to keep at rehab for ten days and then I will be ready for the tennis courts, slowly at first...what great news ..I do know how lucky and blessed I have been through all of this.

I also rode Little Yella again for the first time since the accident...

It felt good to be back and I was very cautious.....

So I want to wish all my family close and dear friends and blog readers a wonderful safe, health and happy 2021!!!

Wednesday 30th December 2020..Little Izzy!

Has her second birthday today......
This was taken last year in New Jersey..

Gracie is very proud of her second grandchild..

Check out those eyes...

My session at the phsyio this morning was a good 80 minute work out, Fernada sure knows her stuff and I felt good when I left and went on a walk into Centro..I had a few errands  to do for last minute Three kings stuff.....the next few days are going to busy with this but I have some great helpers and I know it will all go smoothly.

Spent the late afternoon reading and relaxing and then the usual evening routine, dinner, shower and usually a live soccer game.

I like this..

I saw this on Face book and thought it was important to share...

This was shared on a Covid survivor group...have heard many of these before, but it seems helpful:

HOW TO FIGHT COVID AT HOME

No one ever talks about how to fight Covid at home. I came down with Covid in November. I went to the hospital, running a fever of 103, a rapid heart beat, and other common symptoms that come with Covid. While I was there they treated me for the high fever, dehydration and pneumonia.

The doctor sent me home to fight Covid with two prescriptions -  Azithromycin 250mg & Dexamethason 6mg. When the nurse came in to discharge me, I asked her, "What can I do to help fight this at home?" She said, “Sleep on your stomach at all times with Covid. If you can’t sleep on your stomach because of heath issues sleep on your side. Do not lay on your back no matter what because it smashes your lungs and that will allow fluid to set in.

Set your clock every two hours while sleeping on your stomach, then get out of bed and walk for 15-30 min, no matter how tired or weak that you are. Also move your arms around frequently, it helps to open your lungs. Breathe in thru your nose, and out thru your mouth. This will help build up your lungs, plus help get rid of the Pneumonia or other fluid you may have.

When sitting in a recliner, sit up straight - do not lay back in the recliner, again this will smash your lungs. While watching TV - get up and walk during every commercial.

Eat at least 1 - 2 eggs a day, plus bananas, avocado and asparagus. These are good for Potassium. Drink Pedialyte, Gatorade Zero, Powerade Zero & Water with Electrolytes to prevent you from becoming dehydrated. Do not drink anything cold -  have it at room temperature or  warm it up. Water with lemon, and little honey, peppermint tea, apple cider are good suggestions for getting in fluids. No milk products, or pork. Vitamin’s D3, C, B, Zinc, Probiotic One-Day are good ideas. Tylenol for fever. Mucinex, or Mucinex DM for drainage, plus helps the cough. Pepcid helps for cramps in your legs. One baby aspirin everyday can help prevent getting a blood clot, which can occur from low activity. "

Drink a smoothie of blueberries, strawberries, bananas, honey, tea and a spoon or two of peanut butter.

We always hear of how Covid takes lives, but there isn't a lot of information out there regarding how to fight Covid. I hope this helps you or someone you know, just as it has helped me.

This appeared today in the local press...

To receive 2021, and in response to the call to stay at home, the municipal government is preparing a virtual pyro-musical that will be broadcast live from official social networks. The center will remain closed and the restaurants will be able to work until 00:30 hrs during Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Due to the health contingency, the municipal administration will not carry out massive events. To avoid large concentrations of people before and after the pyro-musical, access to the the Jardin will be prohibited from the early morning of December 31st and until noon on January 2nd.

The street closures: San Francisco (from the corner with Corregidora); Correo corner with Diez de Sollano; Cuna de Allende, Umarán, Relox and Canal corner with Hidalgo.

At 12 o’clock in the morning on January 1st, 2021, the pyrotechnics will resound and illuminate 8 points of the city. It will be 10 minutes of fireworks and music that can be seen from home in the following points: Historic Center, Azteca Neighborhood, Insurgents Square, Pedro Vargas Viewpoint (Royal exit to Queretaro), San Antonio neighborhood, Parroquia de la Luz, Los Angeles neighborhood and Zeferino Park.

The call to the citizens of San Miguel is to stay at home keeping the measures of healthy distance, use of the mask and constant hand washing.

In the case of going to restaurants, do so with previous reservation, verifying that the establishment has the “Health First” certificate and that it complies with the prevention measures against Covid-19.

During Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 December, and as part of the economic recovery plan, restaurants will be allowed to operate until 00:30 the next day, provided that they are certified and follow the protocols authorized by the City.

A good move to close the main Jardin but a better move would have been to close the restaurants too..

Stay safe and healthy!!

Monday 28th December 2020... Monday musings!!

I was at my physio at 11 am this morning and Fernando spent almost 90 minutes on my knee which is slightly swollen...she really is very good she uses ultra sound, electric magnetic current, oils and massage and also she works on my elbow and rib...this is how I looked when I left the office this morning....

I emailed my surgeon today asking him if he thought I was overdoing the exercises and walking, and should I wear the brace and can I hurt my knee by doing too much?
He replied that some swelling is normal and that I cannot hurt my knee and I should wear the brace when I walk and he also told me the injection of fluid which he is going to do on Thursday will be a big benefit to decrease the inflammation .
I then walked to Centro to mail off my claims for the medical expenses to the British Columbia health department..it does state in their portfol that I will be entitled to some compensation for my expenses, so will wait and see.

Spent a leisurely afternoon in the sunshine reading and also watched a live soccer game from England.

This plant about ten  days ago...

And today..

The rest of my little garden is coming along nicely...

I have to put fresh water in my hummingbird feeder every day..

I like this...

Wednesday 23 rd December 2020....a slow day!!

I saw this on Face Book and liked it...hope you do too!!

I asked a friend who has crossed 70 & is heading towards 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself? He sent me the following:

1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children and my friends, I have now started loving myself.

2 I have realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.

3 I have stopped bargaining with vegetable & fruit vendors. A few pennies more is not going to break me, but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.

4 I leave my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than I am.

5 I stopped telling the elderly that they've already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walk down memory lane & relive their past.

6 I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.

7 I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say "Thank You.”

8 I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.

9 I walk away from people who don't value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.

10 I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.

11 I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human.

12 I have learned that it's better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships, I will never be alone.

13 I have learned to live each day as if it's the last. After all, it might be the last.

14 I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!

I decided to share this for all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can't we practice this at any stage and age?

Stay safe and healthy!!

Tuesday 22 Nd December 2020... the day flew by!!

Everyday I seem to be getting a little stronger

and I walk around 9000 steps on my Fit bit everyday.....I do go slowly and still using the one hiking pole......I think my recovery and rehabilitation is coming along really well.

This morning I walked to the tennis courts and was happy to see my buddies enjoying the weather and the game...

I was not upset to be there knowing I had not played for nearly three months, just happy to know that in the new year when I am fully recovered I shall be back.

This is the church near the tennis courts..

Whilst Blaze

is wintering in Nanaimo out of the snow thank goodness....I realize it would be nice to have wheels here, so I have been looking around for a cheap reliable Mexican car and I think I have found one..it is only 3000 pesos and obviously needs some work but you all know how handy I am!!!!

I like these....

Went with Gracie this afternoon to take the dogs for a nice long walk at the soccer fields and then we delivered a few beautiful poinsettias to some of our friends.

After dinner and a shower I have a soccer game to watch...

Stay safe and healthy!!

Monday 21 st December 2020..winter solstice!!

This is what  my friends in Nanaimo had to endure this morning..

I had another great Session at my physio this morning and again Ferrara treated my knee, elbow and rib with ultra sound and magnet electronics....she wants me to continue with my exercises and come back again on Wednesday.

This made me smile...

The Three kings toy drive is going really well and although the gifts are usually distributed in January one of the principles at a school we delivered to last year asked if we could get gifts for them again this year but because the school is closed the Principle was  going to deliver the  gifts to the children’s home and these are some of the photos......

So glad the kids got the gifts!!

She did send me a video which I saw and was lovely..I have tried to copy it here but not good at this sort of thing..

Sorry I have tried and cannot get the video on this post...

Stay safe and healthy!!
