I said my goodbyes and was on the road by 9 am and thank you Janet for loaning me Little Jan!!!

The Lake District (or Lakeland, as it's commonly known round these parts) is by far the UK's most popular national park. Every year, some 15 million people pitch up to explore the region's fells and countryside, and it's not hard to see why. Ever since the Romantic poets arrived in the 19th century, its postcard panorama of craggy hilltops, mountain tarns and glittering lakes has been stirring the imaginations of visitors. Since 2017 it has also been a Unesco World Heritage Site, in recognition of its uinque hill-farming culture.
It's awash with outdoor opportunities, from lake cruises to mountain walks, but many people visit for the region's literary connections. Among the many writers who found inspiration here were William Wordsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Arthur Ransome and, of course, Beatrix Potter, a lifelong lover of the Lakes.
I arrived at my Airbnb at 4pm and my hostess Jane was waiting for me..I have a small single room, which is just fine, my own bathroom with TUB!!!!

And full use of the kitchen and there is a DIY breakfast all of this in a vey exclusive area of the Lakes for only 42 dollars Canadian and I am here till Sunday.
After getting sorted I have some dinner and then went into Keswick to see this live play...
It was quite different a little dark and very well acted and I enjoyed the performance......

Easy drive home and a great first day!!

I'm green with envy because you will be where Beatrix Potter lived in the Lake District. She had such a great imagination for someone who was brought up by very strict parents and in a social environment that did not encourage independence of women. I understand that she donated a lot of land to a trust for public recreation use.

Les, the reason I bring up Beatrix Potter is that she made so many children happy (including me) with her beautiful animal drawings and Lake District stories personifying those animals, especially Peter Rabbit and Miss Puddle Duck. She was a female Walt Disney way before he came on the scene with Mickey Mouse. Have a great hike and watch out for Peter Rabbit.
