Big hike day today and I was packed and on the road by 8.15am again to beat the crowds as I was heading for the iconic Lake Louis!!!!
The mountains on the drive how beautiful!!!
Took me around 30 minutes to arrive
Yes there were hordes of tourists but I soon lost them as I headed into the hills…this was going to be a long hike!!!
So the climb began
Looking back at the trail..
Great zoom on my little camera
Ok a first for me and I will walk you through it….
The climb was quite steep and I stopped to take the above photograph and as I was taking it I hear a thunderous roar and saw my first small avalanche and managed the shot below I know it looks like a waterfall but actually snow cascading down the cliff…how lucky was I???
I reached the end of the trail and the views of the the mountains were spectacular and I sat and had lunch but then it started more thunderous noises echoing through the valley but nothing else it was awesome!!!
I would imagine with all the noise that somewhere behind all that snow some activity was going on….
On the way back I stopped at the tea house for a look!!!
I took a different trail back that was supposed to lead to another tea house but somewhere some how I did not find the trail head but I later joined up with the trail that I took up.
below describes the above X…
Different colors on the way back!!!
It was a wonderful hike I reckon about 15 km..
I then drove to the next lake
This place was like a zoo…hundreds all people around parking lots totally full so I just put my flashers on and stopped in a bus parking zone and quickly snapped these shots!!!
It was a great day!!!
I was home by 5pm and settled down to watch tennis only to find out the games had been cancelled because of rain…so a soak in the tub..left over lamb stew from yesterday for dinner and just as good……packed up for my departure tomorrow.
I am staying in a town called Golden BC tomorrow but before I get there I am going on a long waterfall laden hike in Yoho national park!!!!
Yashi Kochi!!!
