A very quiet night and grey skies to begin with as I packed my lunch and my backpack and at 8am set out for the Metro station…
I had done my research and this train would take me into Metro centre downtown and then I had a walk of three blocks to the old Post office building
where I was to pick up the bus tour.
When I got out of the Metro station this lady was playing Amazing Grace…my Grannie’s favourite hymn..so she got a couple of dollars for the welcome to Washington!!!
I didn’t know if I would get on the tour because I couldn’t book on line but as luck would have it they had two full buses and 9 overflow so they brought this bigger version of Ramona
so we had like a small private tour…the tour is 6 hours with a guide who gets off with you and explains the history…Delmar was extremely knowledgeable and it was a fantastic tour…join me please!!!
Time for an hour cruise!!
I think this Memorial was only dedicated yesterday by the president!!
Over 58000 names of men who gave their lives there are also 8 women who lost their lives here is one of them!!
It was a great tour!!!
So at 4pm I had some choices and I did want to see at least one of these!!!
They close at 5.30pm so I only got a brief glimpse but what a fabulous place!!!
I then walked about 20 blocks to
Where this performer was giving a free concert!!
She did have a unique voice and the band was good but I did not care for the kind of music they performed….
Another 20 block back to the Metro station and with in a few minutes on the tube back home by 9.30pm!!!
A very long day but I did enjoy it all so that is it for now for all the big cities…tomorrow I head to Virginia!!!
As it was late I went into the Safeway and asked if I could stay again tonight and a different manager told me no problem!!!!
Tea and I think I may be able to find a little piece of strawberry shortcake left over from last night!!

Great pics, Les! You are doing it up in fine style. Surprised, really, that you weren't invited to the White House for lunch.
Enjoy the more leisurely pace ahead and the beautiful countryside you will be traveling through.
Cheers!
No I Only have tea with the Queen...now the mountains!!!Les
