Friday 14th February 2014…….a special and busy day!!!!

Happy Valentines Day..

floewers I would like to take this opportunity to say hello and to wish a very happy Valentines Day to all the women in my life. I know that sounds like a Willie Nelson song and and I don’t mean it that way. There have been many women who have played and still play a significant role in my life, I don’t want to name names but you know who you are and I thank you all for being there for me. So to these special ladies have a wonderful day  and blessings to you.

Another reason this is such an important day in my life is that this is the day that my Mum passed away in 1995.mum2 Here we are in Bermuda you only have to check out the side burns and the crazy shirt to know this was the fabulous seventies.

This one was taken in England on my first day as a Bobby, probably 1968.mum 1

Mum and Dad had been in Portugal for 7 weeks and arrived home about 11.30pm in the evening and all was well they had a great holiday and they went to bed. They slept in separate bedrooms because of my Mum’s snoring, so as usual Dad kissed her good night and went to his room. In the morning he went into her room to find her gone, she had died in her sleep. No illness, no lingering health defects, just a weak heart, she was 75 years old.

She was the most remarkable woman I have ever met in my whole life and I am so proud and happy she was my Mum. I never heard her say a disparaging remark about anyone, she never lost her temper and had a kind word for everyone. Mum was always there for me even though we spent nearly 25 years several thousand miles away from each other. She was the only person who ever called me by my full name and when she did I knew I was in trouble and that I had better stop hanging a licking on my older brother!!!

Many years since you have been gone and Mum I love you still and miss you and wish you could have taken that ride in Ramona.

I posted the above back in 2009 and I just could not write a better tribute so here it is again and as true now as it was then.

The full moon rises over Earth in this view from space taken Nov. 17, 2013 by Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata on the International Space Station.

A full moon is rising for lovers on Valentine's Day, and it will be a Snow Moon.

If weather permits, look up on Friday (Feb. 14) to see the full moon shining brightly in the winter sky. The moon turns full phase at 6:53 p.m. EST (2353 GMT) when it is exactly opposite to the sun in the sky. To most casual observers, however, the moon will appear full a day or two before and a day or two after Valentine's Day.

This February full moon is known as the "Snow Moon" because the heaviest North American snows fall during this time of year. By coincidence, a major snowstorm is currently battering the U.S. East Coast today, just one day ahead of the lunar event. Friday's full moon is also known as the "Full Hunger Moon" because food was scarce and hunting was difficult for ancient tribes during this month.

So the start of a busy day…this was taken from my roof  this morning at 8am

easy breakfast with the Olympics and then into the canyons behind my casita with my new cross trainers they feel OK so keeping my fingers crossed they will work for the Camino  and then I went and got my car and drove to the next big city of Queretaro as I was going to pick up Sara from the bus terminal she is flying into Mexico city from Quito in Ecuador and then getting the bus to Queretaro and staying in SMA for a month.

Before I picked her up I stopped in Costco and Wal-Mart for a few things and met Sara……it has been a year since I have seen her so we did a lot of catching up on the drive back.

I took her to her apartment where she is staying with a friend and then went to get Carolyn as she treated me to a valentine dinner and dance at this really unusual place there is a large white goose on the roof..the dance was in the 60’s theme and the food was great and  the music was good and we had a great time..I even had my dancing shoes on but I am no match for Carolyn.

hay Valentines Day to all my readers!!!
