It is hard to write and tell you about my day with the reports of these incredible fires. The local one here in Santa Barbara seems to have been contained and the loss of homes is around 120. Stella’s friend was allowed into his house this morning but only for a few minutes and with a police escort and only allowed to take out his medications.
The new fires are about 70 miles south of here close to Los Angeles and the destruction is shattering. We have been watching the live broadcast and the fires are not even close to being contained and the loss of homes will be in the thousands. There was a mobile home park and all 550 homes there were destroyed. The weather is very hot during the day and the ground very dry and then in the afternoon the winds pick up.
The emergency services are at full stretch and other crews are being brought in from all over the State. So sad to see and trying to understand the feelings of those people who have lost everything and their homes to such a disaster.
