I did not have internet yesterday so two posts in one so another long one….
First of all I need to back up just a tad to where I got off the Hiking bus at the airport I had arranged to pick up a car and I did and drove it to where I was staying for the night on that short drive I found it to be quite uncomfortable to drive the drivers seat was lop sided and it was too big a car so I am hoping to change it in the next few days when I get to a town where they have another depot but if not oh well…..
So yesterday I left and drove three hours to the Catlin Coast quite a nice scenic drive….
I so wish I could tell you these were in the wild…..
For the next two nights I have not made any reservations and by mid afternoon I was ready to find a place and this is the first one I stopped at and I liked it and it was 80 NZ dollars but it had everything
Including a million dollar view in front of the main house…
I got unpacked and then was walking the beach for over two hours loved it!!!!
Came home and had dinner and then back to the beach because this is one of the few places where you can see the…
I waited over two hours but not a sighting!!!
Came back had some tea and sunk into the lovely comfy beds…all the beds so far in NZ have been wonderful……..
Now Monday 30th at 8pm…
Had the best sleep for a long time and took my time over breakfast and then was on the road by 9.30am…first stop was here for a morning waterfall hike!!!
What the sign does not tell you is the almost 1000 feet elevation gain!!
and yes it was a very muddy path
There are two waterfalls about 5 minutes apart the first one here
and the second one
Proof that it was muddy and there are not many people to have a built in GPS system on their leg…..if ever I want to know which way to go I just look at the arrow!!!!!!!
Back on the road loved this photo and cloud formation!!!
OK almost the last waterfall photo of the day…
It was about 2pm and I was ready to call it a day and needed a special place to stay and would you know it the first I stopped bingo had everything I needed….
All this for 70 NZ dollars…
A washing machine so I could do this!!!!
Lovely kitchen and bathrooms
I made a cup of tea and love the sugar bags they all have quotations on I liked this one!!!
So I relaxed watched the clothes dry and read!!!!
Then another reason I like this place it is 3km to
I am starting to like reflection shots and no smart comments that is an apple in my mouth!!
These falls were quite lovely and a nice way to spend a while before supper!!!
A peaceful end of evening scene on the way back to the cabin!!
So all fed, cleaned and now going to watch one of the free dvd’s in the room….
Remember after reading this scroll down for the next two posts on the Millford Track!!
Yashi Kochi!!!
