This morning I packed up lunch and extra clothes and drove 40 miles to here
where I found this company
renting these
After not reading but signing the 2 page waiver and handing over 15 dollars I was given my tube
and directed across the street to the start of the 2 hour float down the river!!!
So here we go the start was a bit slow as there seemed to be a head wind so some paddling was required before the flow of the river took me along…..very lovely and gentle ride with fabulous views and not many people…
mini rapids!!!
Time for lunch..
Looking back
After about 90 minutes I came to the part in the river where I had to get out and wait for the driver of the van to come get me…it was only a ten minute wait and he drove me back to the office…a fun and relaxing time on the river.
I then drove and found this
It was a short hike to the small but fast falls…
I asked this old man if he knew the history of this construction and he did…he obviously knew it well and spoke with pride how the government in it’s wisdom during the 1932 depression offered workers food stamps to build the platform to help the spawning fish reach higher ground…he smiled and said it did not seem to bother the government that the fish had been reaching higher grounds for hundreds of years without any help….it was fun talking and listening to him….
He also told me that the holes in these rocks were formed by the years of constant and powerful water flows!!!
I was home by 6 o clock and enjoyed a different kind of a day…..
Took Boomer down to the beach again and now some TV….
Yashi Kochi!!!!
