We left the hotel yesterday afternoon at 2.30pm for the 90 minute drive to Edinburgh and once we got there we had almost 4 hours to look around the city before we had to line up for the entrance to the tattoo…..I went off on my own exploring and the Edinburgh fringe festival was on and there were scores of street entertainers, some of whom were really good.
This guy was amazing no props he just based his act on stopping and imitating people who were walking by!!!
Edinburgh is a beautiful old city and I enjoyed the time I had walking around.
The streets were closed to traffic and the atmosphere was like one great big street party!!
The venue for the Tattoo is the grounds of the Edinburgh Castle and the event staff had it so well organized with approximately 10,000 people in attendance.
As you can see the show is outdoors and it had been raining before the start but then the rain stopped and we were entertained for 90 minutes to over 1000 performers of music, drums, pipes and dance….it was simply amazing!!!
This precision drum and drill team from Switzerland wowed the crowd!!!!
Throughout the show a light show was featured on the castle…fantastic….
The evening finished off with fireworks and a lonely Piper in the wings at the top of the castle.
I have never seen a show with so much action and finesse and it was just a wonderful time and an item off the bucket list.
We didn’t get back till 1.30am and Malc and I had a good sleep and just now going down for breakfast.
Today we are going on the bus for a tour around the surrounding countryside…..
