My friends Norma and Croft invited me to go along with them and two other couples from their RV park on a day trip to Mineral de Pozos, which is an old mining town about 40km away.
The day started out quite foggy but the mist cleared and again another sunny and warm day.
Pozos was a very busy town of about 50000 inhabitants and was the home of the very best silver and gold mines in all Mexico. After the Revolution of 1910 the town became almost extinct and today there are so many abandoned buildings and it is home now to about 4000 residents.
It was like walking through a town that time forgot and it also has been the location of some famous western movies. Enjoy the photos….
Sara taught me this shot…
Some of the young and old residents…
This old timer was just blessing himself as he passed by the Church!!!
This Pearson boy just cannot stay away from the ladies!!!!
We had a great lunch then went to visit two former mines.
This gentleman was the caretaker of this mine.
We really didn’t know the story of the mine but there was some very unusual old buildings.
We figured that this building was an air ventilation strip.
The inside view, such technology!!!
More air shafts.
Norma and Croft bought a beautiful rain stick from this colourful artist!!!
Sara I think I may get the same piercing is that OK??
Croft’s car really needs some attention!!
We figure this mine shaft was about 500 feet deep!!
Not very clear but that is water in the bottom of the shaft!!!
It was a very enjoyable and interesting day!!!
