Well lets catch up here I left the park in San Blas yesterday afternoon around 3pm and just wanted to drive a couple of hours and then park for the night. This did not happen and I am a little annoyed at myself because for the second time I have broken the golden rule of not driving at night. I just couldn’t find anywhere to stay so finished up driving much further than I wanted to but I have promised myself that I WILL NOT drive again at night. I did finish up staying at a Pemex gas station and it was not a great place too many noisy trucks and then when I woke up saw where I had parked, had a laugh at that, I bet the cows did too.
I got up early and went into the town and took the shots of the church and square, the sign is only there to show the name of the town, Arenal.
I changed my mind this morning, outside of Guadalajara there are 2 RV parks according to my book both in nice settings but one is much closer to the city than the other by about 30 kms, so instead of going to the one with the thermal pools and springs I opted to come to the one closer to town for 4 days then after the big city go the other park for 2 days of rest and relaxation, so that is what I am doing.
Now this is a really long story but you only get the much-abbreviated version. I have some Mexicans friends, for over 20 years, who live in Guadalajara and I stayed with them 2 years ago at their beautiful mansion and then we lost contact and one of my reasons for coming here was to try and re-locate them.
Guadalajara is the second largest city in Mexico and is huge but would you believe that this RV Park is in the same area where my friends lived, I remembered the area. So after settling Ramona in I set off walking to see if I could find their house. Amazing that after 2 year since I was here and walking about 5 miles and a couple of wrong turns I found their house. No one home but left my e-mail address so hoping to hear from them tonight and then we can get a visit in.
I am so lucky to have my health it was no mean feat in the heat of the day walking all that way and you can tell by the photo, the house was located on top of the hill. Then on the way back I stopped at Wal-Mart and my back pack was filled and then about a mile back home, so very thankful for my health and my legs and also for my memory in finding the house.
Light supper tonight and a movie and early to bed and explore again tomorrow, take care and I wish everyone a great week…..Les
