Yesterday we had a lovely breakfast and the weather had clouded over so we stayed home and watched the soccer game Germany beating Uruguay and then went for a walk through the village…
This is the duplex where Sara is staying
The village is quite prosperous and there are at least a dozen new houses being built
The yards are clean and so are the paved streets
Sara introducing herself to the neighbours
The Band office
The clinic
The small creek that runs through the village
We then walked up onto the highway
down this path
passing by the remains of an old homestead
to the lake
This weekend this event is taking place on a farmstead across from the village
We walked around for a short while
It was 8pm by the time we got home and I busied myself
so did Sara
and the outcome was a delicious meal!!!!
The one thing that amazes me here is that it stays light virtually the whole night.
These photos are taken from the back deck of the duplex..
This one at 8am
This one at 10.30pm
and this one at 11.30pm!!!
Hope you enjoyed seeing Iskut!!!

Hi Les,
Really enjoy your blog! Steve and I are travelling up the Cassiar Thursday or Friday next week on our way to Whitehorse. We'd love to drop in to say "Hi!" If you're interested, drop me a line: lillest (at) gmail (dot) com.
I can't give an exact date because it will depend on when they release our truck from the repair shop here in Terrace.
Best,
Esther
Sorry Les! You are correct, my information is over 12 years old. They have obviously improved the roads.
When I was in Hyder last the border consisted of a sign saying to report to the local RCMP if we wanted to declare anything.
It sounds like the mosquitoes are the same anyway.
