For a change it was sunny and warm this morning as I packed up my lunch and drinks and maps and I left the house by 9.30am on a small day adventure…..I was heading to this area
but first I went into the center of town and walked around and obtained a really great and huge detailed map of the area

It is a friendly clean town with no gringos and I was happy to be able to use some of my new learned Spanish for directions and help!!!
I found the road out to the lake and it was a good road with the last few km on gravel…

I soon realized that this is a huge area with spectacular views and I bet there are great hikes into those hills but I think I need to be with someone else and maybe hire a guide and I will next time but for today I saw a dam at the end of the lake
X marks the dam so I set off to see if I could walk around to it….
the scenery is quite wonderful….

It was a long hike but on the flat and I arrived at the dam walls….
I managed to climb over a fence to get the shots of the huge canyon!!!
Really very beautiful…..I had lunch and then tackled the journey back…I saw no one and I enjoyed the solitude gave me time to think about “stuff”……
It was a great hike and the drive home was about 75 minutes and I was home by 6pm
Had a quiet night tonight before a busy weekend…..hope you enjoyed the photos there is a lot of exploring in this area!!!!
